He's holding them Upright, but the sound is better & more controlled when shaken flat/horizontal.

The classic egg shaker is a bad ass percussive powerhouse! (I also like the ones with smaller pellets for a softer, warmer sound.) Was just thinking, give me syncopated rimshots with a good shaker-groove and I don't need much else! Btw this guy is the Jimi Hendrix of egg shakers, well done sir!!
