Awesome video guys! Thank you for all the great information and sharing your little tips. I've watched a lot of these kind of videos and I really resonated with the way you guys are so honest and stick to the basics. Love the Cederberg and just came back from a trip to Kagga Kamma in my Suzuki SJ410 1984 model witch is not the most comfortable of drives but man did I enjoy the absolute seclusion and peace. We camped at the bobbejaanskraal site the furthest away from base camp. No fridge, though, so most definitely need to look into that. You guys made me even more excited for our next adventure. @@andrego5035 Thanks for watching and thank you for this awesome feedback. It’s comments like this that makes us want to create more videos. Kagga Kamma is truly beautiful too! Glad you enjoyed your visit there! In my view, the best first modification or upgrade for a overlanding / camping set up is a dual battery system. It allows for camp lights, charging of phones etc and a fridge. Until then, using a decent cooler box (Coleman) and frozen 1L bottles works wonders for 3-5 days acting as a fridge. Thanks guys ... cool video and pics, lovely sites and ideas of where to go. Congrats on your 6 years together. I hope there will be many more years of health and happiness to come. I'm in the process of acquiring an overland truck. It will become my full time home. I want to visit many a spot in South Africa and eventually Southern Africa in general. It's a daunting concept as I'm in my 60's and realise I have limitations. I've decided that once I cannot climb into my Mercedes Arocs 1836 cab, I'll swop it for a care home. I don't need to change my sunset view every night, but I will whenever I want to. I'd appreciate campsite costs and video/photographic equipment recommendations. I have a few months of planning to do still so if you'd like to get in touch, reply to this and I'll respond. Happy overlanding!

Thank you for helping me with future planning for lekker "Off Grid" trips. Just shows what you can do without all the "extra" nonsense that you see in most of the other overlanding. channels.... As a matter of interest, what sort of fuel consumption did you patrol give you? I drive a V6 petrol Colt that has the same sort of drinking issues that the Patrol 4.8 suffers😅😅

@@nigelstanley4739 thank you so much for this comment and observation. The definition of our channel is to keep it simple and to make it relatable for all - its to show everyone that all can go out and explore this beautiful country of ours and it’s a absolute privilege to do so! That being said there are some awesome channels out there, @Edwardbath and @GetoutGo are my two personal favourites. The fuel consumption is a bit rough. On average we get 5km / L. Harsh 4x4ing it goes down to 3-4Km / L, however, I love my patrol. It’s my dream vehicle which took me over 10 years to purchase. I absolutely love it and get tremendous joy in driving it. Truth be told, it doesn’t matter what you drive. The best vehicle is a paid off vehicle and if you are using it to explore this beautiful country, what a bonus! Just go out and enjoy SA 🇿🇦

The best vehicle is a paid off vehicle. Took me 10 years also to save to buy my Colt V6 9 years ago. I also get average 5km/l on a good day and 3/4km/l off road. I've been debating in my mind to go the Patrol route at end of this year as the running costs are basically same as Colt V6.

@@evanwdamon thanks for taking the time to watch our video! Yeah, we have camped alone here a few times too without issue. As a winner but also judge of potjie competitions, I come from a long lineage of potjie people. My one uncle was the pot bread king. Potjie isn't just any food made in a Dutch oven, but the METHOD is what differentiates between a mere stew and a potjie. A true traditional potjie never gets stirred, the meat is browned first without fat or oil added. A traditional potjie takes between five and eight hours. The old togryers called it togkos. The name "potjie" is something that showed its head maybe only 40-odd years ago.
