I have some purple queen growing in a container. I think I'm going to plant it out in one of the garden beds before winter hits. It is supposed to be perennial in zones 8 and higher

@sharonhart12326 күн бұрын
@@farrahsgardendiary I've only had it in containers so far but I think it's a low growing ground cover. I think it will root kinda like creeping Jenny so it might end up everywhere but it looks easy to pull up if it gets places it doesn't need to be

On your previous video of your gardenias? I am very surprised it is full and has a lot of growth. I got mine almost the same time as you did and mine is still the same as I brought it home. That’s weird 🫢🫢 also yours is full of butts. The only buds that I got was when I bought it other than that no but it is just growing slowly and leaves turning yellow and fall yesterday I added some fertilizer since I know they like critical soil hopefully that helps him a little bit
@farrahsgardendiary8 күн бұрын
So sorry to hear you didn't get more blooms. Are you in Florida as well? Here is what I did, I kept it in a sunny location, this area gets approx 6hrs of sun. I also kept it mostly dry, it doesn't like a lot of water, so I allow it to dry out before watering again. I also add used coffee grounds to it every 2 weeks to keep the container acidic. Since I moved it while it had buds, those fell due to the added stress. I will keep you posted. The only concern I have with this new area is the close proximity it is to the concrete. The concrete does seep in the ground and causes it to be more alkaline, per the UF gardening ext guide. I will keep you posted on how it does.

@Arelii_Small_World I am sure it will bounce right back, once it gets a location it loves. You got this! I heard dunkin donuts gives free used coffee grounds as well, this will keep the soil acidic 😊

I am resisting the urge to look that plant up 😂😂 I am banned from any online orders or going to the garden center until the temps cools down a bit. They are just going to bake in this Florida heat 🥵. As soon as it is constantly in the low 90s I should be able to get back in the garden more frequently. I have so much to do, anxiously waiting.
