I don't know if this makes sense, but the way I incorrectly had my Rodecaster set up before you helped me set things up properly, I had my computer audio and whatever else I needed to hear coming into one of my faders. That served as the volume of whatever I was listening to which essentially was the volume of my headphone. Now, I am not an audio person so that might be one of the cringe worthy things like a novice designer using Comic Sans. LOL!

I wish that I could have been there for the live meeting. The discussion that you all had about lenses and bokeh was right in my wheel house. That was my biggest disappointment moving from film to cropped sensor digital cameras is you lost bokeh. I couldn't afford a full size sensor digital camera. What Jeremiah needs to to is get a longer (non-wide angle lens) the faster the better. If the field of view of a 50mm would work in his space, meaning if he has the space to move the camera away from him a bit. But a very fast 30 mm lens might get the look he is going for too. He could probably pick one up fairly cheap used. I just looked for a cheap lens and the TTArtisan 50mm f/2 Lens for Sony Emount for only $69 (new at B&H and not the sharpest). The only real problem is it might actually be too long for his space. But it is cheap! It is also a manual focus lens. But I have a manual focus lens on my headshot camera and I love it. I didn't know about the lens stabilization trick.That was a great suggestion!

This comment is in response to Rae Rae's question about webcams vs a mirrorless camera, one thing that I found was hotspots went away when I upgraded to a mirrorless camera because of the higher dynamic range. Also, another thing that I helped with hotspots with my webcam was lightening up my background. I originally went with a dark blue background but ended up switching to a light blue backdrop to minimize the hotspots on my forehead. I assume that it because I limited the dynamic range of the image. And I loved the garage sale at the end of the show!!!

@@LearnerToLearner Regrettably, I squandered the last 2 weeks. And now, I was scheduled with a night class on Tuesday nights, 6-10pm with 40min drive. I will pop in when I can end the class a little early or on those odd off days. Last year the class was a fully online, now I am back in the "office," ugh. That commute will make it difficult to join most days. But if you don't see me live, you will see me in the comments. 😊

I don't have the OG rodecaster - straight to Rodecaster Pro 2 , i wouldnt have that latency issue cos I dont have comparison

@@pamelamedina5479 Hi Pamela. If you have the receiver for a camera (instead if the smaller USB-C or Lightning ones) you can use a male to male TRS to TRS cable to connect the receiver to one of your RØDECaster Pro II or Duo’s mic inputs. You’d need a 1/8” to 1/4” Female to Male adapter. I’m happy to show you in tonight’s live stream.

I know I am a day late, but my experience with the iPhone Continuity Cam is, it will connect automatically. The first time mine tried to connected I didn't even know what Continuity Camera was! And my guess is when Angelique turned off the Continuity Camera it reconnected automatically in Mic Mode without her knowledge. Just a guess. Reverb sells used equipment. I think that is the used equipment/instrument place you might have been trying to recall. I buy lots of things from B&H used, but check regularly they have a fair bit of turn over with popular items. Glenn is hilarious!! "Where are they located so that he could watch the news!"

I have done a little research and I think the quickest way to shut things down when things go bad in Zoom is to go to the "Host Tools" button which I think used to be security, then choose the red item at the bottom "Suspend All Activities" it will turn everyone's camera and audio off including yours. Then can come on and explain what happened, then you will need to slowly bring everyone back using the options in that same menu. But if you are lucky you spotted who the bad egg was and you can boot them from the meeting (by selecting the 3 dots in their window and kick them out) before turning everything back on. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a keyboard shortcut for Suspending All Activities so I can't figure out how to put that on a Stream Deck Button. But that would be a dangerous button anyway. Maybe we can do a "fire drill" in two weeks when you are back on air. That could be fun. LOL! On another note, I sometimes lose the Zoom menu bar and it takes a while to find it. There is a "Focus" button on the Zoom/Streamdeck. So theoretically, you hit that button if you don't see the menus then go to the "Host Tools" I think you could have someone out in 3 seconds with a little practice.

@@LearnerToLearner I hope you are enjoying Creator Camp!! 😄Here's another quick update. I had been having trouble with my Mac dropping audio connection with my Rode Caster Duo. Several times a week it will randomly lose connection and I would have to reselect it in my system settings. Perhaps that is because I was not connected to the Rode Caster Duo Main. Before it was on Chat. Not sure if I am grasping at straws for a solution but so far it hasn't dropped the audio.

I thought that was strange as well what JJSC was was saying about the two USB ports to that connect to the computer. And it only came with one USB cable. I think they could have thrown in another. Contrary to what John said about the interface, I find RODE's digital interfaces surprisingly intuitive. I just wish it had a larger screen and more buttons. And it is expensive but I think it is a fair price. If you have a subscription to Ecamm live for 2.5 years it come out to about the same price. For that reason, I would think consider it cheaper. Companies need to make money to stay in business so I am good with it. They will be copied soon enough. Time to head over to JJSCT to see what other gripes he has with the RCV. I have a few of my own. One being that RODE doesn't have sufficient instruction for not so techie people like me. Glad I stumbled across your channel!!

Wow! Stumbled across your channel while looking for tips on the RODECaster Video. And I used a DIY cake pan with LED strip light for 2 years. And I got my RODECaster Video yesterday. I tried out two webcams and the USB webcams have that blurring thing going on. One of them is a Logitech Brio. I have no idea how to fix that.

@@LearnerToLearner If my wife lets me I will try to make it. LOL! That is what I like about this channel, you guys are learning together. I have a mirrorless camera in the HDMI port with no problems on the RC Video. But the webcams have that blurred motion effect when there is movement. I am not sure if the webcams are not compatible not. They say they need to be UVC webcams (whatever UVC means). But it also might be a frame rate problem. It's not a huge deal if that is just the way they are since I consider having the webcam connectivity a bonus.

Even if you can’t join us live through Zoom, you can always join our live stream and participate in the chat. Of course it’s easier to test things out if you do call it. And we can troubleshoot live. I’m curious if you’re on a Mac?

@@LearnerToLearner I am on a Mac Studio. And thanks for the invite. If I don't join via Zoom, I like the option of joining the live stream. LOL! If I join, I will actually be more self-conscious about my wife hearing me than actually being on a KZbin live stream. I will say, I really like the way you are operating things and especially learning/teaching things together rather than having a single expert. I think we could all learn a lot more if we are all in a sense teachers and not just relying on the teachers that don't always have the answers.😊

It depends. Sometimes I see it happen more than other times. This episode, sync is all over place. Check out some of the newer episodes. I’ll pay more attention to it. It’s not super critical for my use case. But ideally, I’d still like to get Zoom callers to sync up if possible.
