I've heard about the festival over the years but never realized how massive it really is. I can relate about the work you're going into as I used to work at a high school and had to pick up the sports complex during the game season...filthy job. It's amazing how fast the grounds can be littered. I also worked for a company contracted to clean during and after college football games...the stadium seated something like 70k people. Had to drag 100 ft. of hose through the concourse in freezing weather to spray down hundreds of toilets...totally disgusting lol. Anyway, have fun and be safe. PS: nice prints, btw. How do you get such dense blacks? The last print you showed I noticed that there didn't appear to be any voids in the black areas (as you might get when there isn't enough ink or something).
@laurascull35246 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! The trick is to carve out the lino cut piece deep and saturate the paper for the ink to give a good transfer! 😀☺️

This was so relaxing, the doves in the background remind me of my grandparents garden in Europe. One tip! If you like using gloves you should try getting a box of latex gloves, they give great dexterity in the dirt and would definitely add to the asmr ness. Plus they would be great for art projects!
@laurascull35246 ай бұрын
Lovely to know you enjoyed the video! There is nothing better than putting my hands in the dirt, I don't know why but gloves aren't the way for me 🤣🤣 thanks for the tip though 😁

This turned out beautiful! Can you use epoxy over it to preserve it once it’s dried?
@laurascull35246 ай бұрын
Thankyou! It did change slightly when it dried but still love it, I can do if I can find some, if not I have a clear coating spray that seems to do a similar job 🎉🎉

Interesting. Have you ever made bas relief aside from carving? BTW: be careful of dry plaster dust...not good to breathe.
@laurascull352411 ай бұрын
I have! I do find them useful but I'd thought I'd run with what I have at the moment. Agreed, I have my window and good air circulation whilst carving out on each of my plaster videos :)

With amount of instruments and materials available nowadays it’s only lack of creativity and simplicity that can stop from creating any form of art.Well done with the artwork 💯Perfect example that even with cheap paints and materials you can create almost anything 🌞Art is forever💯

Hope your exhibit is going well. I wanted to give you some feedback. The pieces most approachable for me are the still life works @ 3:15 @3:18 @3:49 @4:00 . . . and especially @4:35 because it's somewhat more concrete in concept. I like that you seem to stay below the radar of things like realism, definition and external expectation perhaps, tending more toward abstraction. I like that your work isn't quite straightforward and given more to chance, it would seem. Myself, I really like just making marks and messes and just letting the process inform me, but, then there are times where I decide to push more into figural work while maintaining much of the aforementioned abstraction...and then, there are times where I want or need to push into realism. I would think you do or have done things like color studies? I do them often and it's very useful to explore the idea of contrast too, not only in color, but in shape, form, line, texture, concept etc. Anyway, great work you're doing...anxious to see what you'll be doing next.

Hello! Thankyou so much for the in-depth message. Indeed, the show went well! Really enjoyed creating these as originally they were just to use up paper. I do enjoy how you can make something realistic but abstract with the use of colour or contrasting marks. It's a never ending investigation that I would love to spend more time on

Agreed, found that when going back to Windsor & newton, the pigment wasn't there, if it was it was after I used a few layers and only certain colours
