haha thank you! After some time I expect where to look at so it's not a problem I guess :D I should probably go a bit slower on streams though.

Just saw last bit of the video. In terms of doing open source and financial situation, what is your motivation for doing your projects (instead of doing a regular 9-5 corporate job)? Is it because you believe in open&free software or you find open source environment nicer to work in, being more independent? A person with your background can find high paying job in a company (at the expense of doing less open source), no?
@orhundevАй бұрын
Being more independent is something I truly value when working on open-source projects, and it's one of the main reasons I've pursued this career path. Over the years, I realized that I can't be as productive as I’d like in a traditional work environment. The biggest issue was that I stopped enjoying what I was doing, which, for me, is more important than the financial aspect. Programming is a creative endavour and it needs to be fun! So, I've been trying to keep things minimal and figure it out along the way. There are obviously more reasons to this and I wrote a blog post about it if you'd like to read more: blog.orhun.dev/open-source-grindset/ Always happy to answer any questions or discuss this further :)

have noticed that Ratatui doesn't require import Crossterm. It's possible just delete dependency to Crossterm and everything in examples just keeps working fine.
@orhundevАй бұрын
yup, it's been a while since this talk, now Ratatui re-exports crossterm!

Back in the 1980s, I was a massive VT100 fanboy. At college we had a bunch of cheaper terminals and ONE VT100 and every session on the PDP-11 was a race to see who could "grab" the real VT100! I know you're talking about Rust but the intro to this video is a journey into nostalgia for me. I had a copy of Turbo C++ too, I didn't actually develop any Turbo Vision apps but, as the IDE was developed with it, I saw it A LOT.
@stefanalecu9532Ай бұрын
We Free Pascal people are still maintaining Turbo Vision in the form of Free Vision (and it works on DOS too), so you can give us a visit and try the experience :)
