What would you say is the maximum practical depth from which you could pump water with this style pump?
@lifeinpalawanКүн бұрын
Standard Philippine method, hard to get them past 20-25 meters. Most push water down the pipe as they drill.

The example you modeled is different from the one I saw. The example I saw was explained in a video about how water was pumped upwards in the 1400s in the Alhambra Palace in Granada. If you go to 7 minutes 40 seconds, it explains the system. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rn3EfaODmrSsfs0

The Alhamra Trompe and Air lifting pump is a totally different issue. Combining the two you get a Pulser pump: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulser_pump A Pulser pump works, but not as described in the video you linked to. The video here is debunking those who clame that a siphon can lift water. That is impossible, as shown here.

That drill and the head wont make it through rock banks though...so if you drill down and find water, youre kinda lucky. Most times rocks are a problem, and require a proper drill rig

The bottom hole in the container needs a larger orifice for there to be a vacuum.
@kjellg65326 күн бұрын
This excellent video shows that for this system to work, the orifice of the exit from the system must be lower than the water level in the source. Diameter of this orifice does not matter for the system to work, but has influence on the amount of flow.

I have a question: Lets say. U have a water source At point a. Which siphons downwards in a 90 degree angle. Then. At the bottom of the angle. It goes ipwards in a 10 degree angle to point B. Which is higher than point A. Could the water from point A reach to point B. Or will it get stuck at the same height of point A?
@kjellg65328 күн бұрын
It will stop at the same height as the source. No siphon can lift any water to a higher level. The input must always be higher than the exit from a siphon.

Also look up kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHmtnoybe9B9i5o a variant of ram pumps that is less noisy. They both are good pumps that lasts for decades. But, the can not pump any water up from a well. They need a certain head and flow to power them.

What is the diameter of the pipe. 3/4” (19mm) it is it 1” (25.4mm). How much of the Basasol do you use?
@LoDylan26 күн бұрын
The inlet need one-way valve, tank need to seal tight and the outlet pipe has to be longer.
@kjellg653222 күн бұрын
Sorry, but no. When using a tank you do not need any one-way valve. The tank here is air tight, just watch the video. If the output is longer, horisontaly, it will not help. If the output is longer vertically the whole point in pumping water to a higher level is gone. This excellent video debunk the “drum pump” as fake, and explains why it is fake. The drum pump is a siphon and no siphon can lift water to a higher level.

@kjellg6532Ай бұрын
Sorry, but this excellent video shows that a siphon can not work as a pump. To lift water to a higher level, you need energy. Here, there is no energy input. No siphon can lift water to a higher level. You can not lift your own body by your hair. I suggest you watch the video once more. It tells why a siphon cannot pump anything. Just as our teachers taught us in school :) An exccelent video debunking the “free energy drum pump myth”. No such Perpetuum Mobile exists.

Try exactly what people did, use a check valve and a smaller pipe and we will see what would happen! And you have to ensure that there is no air leakage.
@kjellg6532Ай бұрын
Noop. In fact he is doing exactly what other videos shows AND he demonstrates that they cannot work and why they cannot. No check valve will help. Fact is by using a barrel you do not need any check valve an you do not need to prime the suction side. Diameter of input and output pipes are irrelevant. Video shows that the system is airtight. The point of this video is to show that a siphon can not act as a pump. No energy input. The exit must be lower than the water level in the source. Water only flow downhill, not upwards.

I agree with you that the free energy is a fake. But with your setup would it change if you lengthen the length of the hose. The near the end add bins for a p-trap. I'm looking at the weight of gravity on the water. And yet stopping air from coming back into the system maybe even check valve. I'm looking for scientific ways to make water climb steps.
@kjellg6532Ай бұрын
This video shows that no Siphon can lift any water up to a higher level. This regardless of size of drum, dimension or length off tubes, one way check valves etc. To lift water you need some sort of energy input to some sort of pump. Electric, petrol. wind… or from the flow of water in a stream or waterfall. To lift water, you must add energy to it and that energy must be collecyed from somewhere. If you add a p-trap to the exit in this video, no air will enter from the exit side, and it will all stop. A p-trap does not ad any energy, and the siphon can not lift any water. That said, there exist an old US patent of an „intermittent siphon“ that can lift water. You can lift water from a quiet water, say a pond, but you need an exit point for water that is well lower than the water level in the pond. This mechanism has some valves timed by falling water. The valves stops and starts the siphon in such a way that pumping takes place. Energy is extakted from the water moving from the pond to the lower exit. The timing is tricky and complicated. If you have access to flowing water, energy may be extracted using a ram pump, a spiral pump, a waterwheel driven pump… and the „intermittent siphon pump“.

Can you drill through gravel layers? Small stones willl not be taken away by the cleaning water, and will also collapse around the already drilled hole, preventing you from drilling deeper, if I'm correct.
@rkoppie115Ай бұрын
Interesting. This doesn't cake the hole as well bc of reversed flow. There is no cleaning of the bit though so that might clay up.

You should of primed it properly, also ensure the upper tank is air tight and used a check valve on the intake in. Then the potential energy of the water stored up top would be enough
@kjellg65322 ай бұрын
When using a tank, you do not need any check valve. The purpose of the tank is that you can drop the valve. As you can see from the video, the tank is air tight so the system has to draw air from the output side. This video is proving that this set up, a siphon, is no pump and can not lift any water to a higher level.

Yes it does work the bucket you used was too short. And I think you know that.
@kjellg65322 ай бұрын
No, this set up does not work, and that is precisely what the video is pretended to show. A siphon is no pump and can not lift any water to a higher level. The size of the bucket is ok. You may even drop the whole bucket and simply use a hose, but then you have to find a way to prime the hose/siphon.
