Always great stuff :) Looking great! Hard to believe I thought I heard "first" attempt. Another update coming soon? Just asking.

Hi. I am working on the same layout. I can't get the wiring right. Do you have a video that shows how you wired the tracks and how you wired everything to the power pack or controller? I have seen how portions are wired but nothing that brings it all together. I'm just learning and having a great time doing so but need a little help. Thanks.

I was just about to make a video for my channel (and I still may) about this issue. What I found out is going on is when the light diffuser is attached to the roof of the car, as per the instructions, the light unit hits it as you put the shell back on and that pushes it down. This is why there is a lot of light on one side only.

I bought version 2 light kit for Azuma and GWR. Did not need the plastic light guides, they come with better guides.. So waist of money. All that was needed was led module and copper strips...... But now using the led guides on early Eurostar., just need some rectangle leds and wire between carriages to rear unit that has pick ups. And diodes to make bridge power supply.

This kit works with DCC? or DC? Or is controlled like a decoder?
@cascadesouthernmodeltrains7547 Жыл бұрын
It works with both, and Kato even offers a decoder for the light control. The decoder is a one per car deal tho.

Nice work, I caution you to get it all setup and running, checking that all the track work is leveled and error free before any ballasting. After that you can ballast everything and then top off the tunnels. You will thank the stars you did all that testing first as redoing any track work after ballasting can be a real nightmare, nothing worse than having a derailing trouble spot inside the tunnel or anywhere else then having to tear all y our hard down to fix it. Lay the track completely get all the kinks ironed out then do the ballast and finish the details. My friends and I learned this the hard way on our kits when these first came out and we really got into the scenery part of the hobby lol.
@animalyze71203 жыл бұрын
Awesome intro, I will warn you that these extreme priced all in one sets are usually a bad idea for new people in the hobby for very non obvious reasons. 1st these kits look amazing and offer a great compact setup to have a train or 2 running and in this regard I think are terrific. You'll have a great display piece even if you never build further but I'll add that these should be set back enough in your space to allow for a single or double mainline to pass in front (or behind) with crossovers allowing the piece to be accessed, making it more like a spot for trains to visit and also having trains running on this layout as others pass by. I find these kits great for that idea as if each kit were a different area on the journey. The bad thing is they very involved as any layout can and will be, but for new modellers it can become very intimidating & frustratingall the while being a great learning tool as well. The wiring knowledge needed to connect these to other layouts and such can be tricky for the new modeler (I've seen it cause people to give up) that said, you are on the right track here. The reason I said bad idea for new people is the cost involved and the sense of loss people feel when it doesn't come out right or they give up before they even start, plus the level work required for all the details these sets can overwhelm inexperienced people quickly. I always say start with a simple setup and work your way up, but giving these a go from the start can be very rewarding as they look great when finished. Keep up the enthusiasm and great work it'll pay off when it's all done for sure.

Any idea when the next update video is going to be posted? Even if it is just running trains. Explaining which locomotives are the F7's and the F3's. I am impressed with how good it looks considering this is your very first try at a layout. I want to get that Town & Factory kit one day. How do you like it? Can you also tell us where and how much the locomotives were too, please! And the Micro Trains car's also. Look's like you are hooked already in the hobby? Good luck! I also have the Just Plug light's wood and iron, but have to add them back to my layout at some point. They are great!

@@lifenscale5469 That's fine, curious to see what you did. You were already talking about it before you even finished the Scenic Ridge :) You wanted it to be larger, bigger, longer, while you were working on it. I'll be looking for the update in the near future. Good luck!

Congratulations in getting into the hobby. Seems there are some comments hidden on the first video. Or you had to hide them for some reason? I would suggest joining TrainBoard.com and post your progress and think you would really enjoy the community there. I have a tiny 2' x 4' times 2, if I want to setup an L shape at times. It's extremely simple. Main thing is welcome to the hobby, and enjoy it.

Thank you! I am not sure why the comments are hidden. I didn't even notice until you pointed that out. But I actually have read a lot of threads on TrainBoard.com to get a lot of advice. I appreciate your welcome and I am excited to explore the hobby. It's been fun so far, expensive, but worth it.
