Imagine that. A measured, thoughtful comment from a famous musician. Thank you, Mr. Howe. I appreciate your perspective. What I don't appreciate are the unnecessarily negative comments on what you said.

Life's too short to own just one car. I have an EV for work commutes and errand running, a gas car for trips, and an old pickup for when I need to haul pianos and the like. Plus two old Hudsons for fun.

Electricity is not just generated from thin air. All energy sources cost you something both in the process of manufacture and during operation. This includes electric generators. In my very humble opinion, the term "EV" is little more than a marketing tool.

Mike is giving the typical answers i get from talking to people who do not know EV's, they all mention Hydrogen and Bio-fuels all of which require a massive power infrastructure upgrade and still use internal combustion which is still very inefficient meaning more of it needs to be produced. Lightness is the way forward for better range rather than bigger and bigger batteries but this seems a long way off yet. I've not been to Scotland or experienced their charge network, Looking at Jonathan Portafield's channel, He doesn't seem to have any issues driving from Orkney to Leicester. I think we have plenty of charging options, but in my case I'm trying to find the cheapest, so maybe being a little picky would be my downfall. I know Cornwall has a much better network now and we had no issues there when we visited.

Well done an informative and well produced video that is free from EV FUD. I wish you every success. I concur with your fast public charger analysis. I've had a Zoe for just over three years now and regularly travel 600 miles from NE Scotland to the south coast of England. Compared to three years ago public fast chargers are ubiquitous. I also calculated the cost of the last trip and even using expensive public chargers it cost £84 less than if I'd done the trip in my hyunfia i20.

I take issue with the continued comparison between a Tesla Model 3 and a BMW 3 series. The BMW quality is much higher than the Tesla. It would be fairer to compare the Model 3 with Stellantis and Ford offerings. I don't think that the Model 3 is a bad car but it isn't a premium car. People are being duped imo if they think that they are comparable.

Thanks for this excellent series of videos. As a Brit who has lived in France for many years I find the UK a bizarre place when it comes to attitudes to EVs. The price of public charging is outrageous and the premium EV owners pay for insurance is completely unjustified. I pay no more for my Kia e-Niro here than owners of the Niro Hybrid pay. EVs are simply better cars to drive, far cheaper to own and the motor/battery will stay viable for longer than an ICE drive train, witness the increasing number of EVs with astronomical mileages on them with minimal maintenance as proof of that.

the biggest drawback is higher insurance cost, my petrol car cost me £295 a year, but my basic EV is costing me £694, also I have just heard volvo are recalling all of their EX30 models and several chinese manufactures have gone bust this past month, the market is still in its infancy and many people and holding back to see what develops
@kiae-nirodiariesencore42705 ай бұрын
I don't understand why EV insurance is higher than ICE cars in the UK. I live in France and have owned a Kia e-Niro from new in 2019. My insurance costs are the same as for the hybrid model and I pay €41 a month. The market is developing rapidly with improvements in battery technology and falling battery prices. The anti-EV lies in the media is annoying for those of us who have real world experience of EV ownership and in our case many stories of long hauls across Europe to tell.
@michaelgoode95555 ай бұрын
Our insurance is actually slightly cheaper. Perhaps your old car and newer EV are not directly comparable?
@johndoyle47236 ай бұрын
Thanks .I do not care what people want to drive be it ICE or EV, I chose EV and am very happy with it. I do not understand why people want to insult me about my choice, if they don't want one then don't buy one, I don't insult their choice. Shame politics and big oil got involved.

Great video. I have in the past played 'whack-a-troll' with online misinformation but I just skip past those comments now - too many. Until the media stop encouraging anti EV click bait, the needle wont shift. I'm really hoping that the new battery tech coming (400mls +) coming out will push the rhetoric to be more positive.
