Hello. The anxiety was the first thing to hit me. It was sudden, then, needing a fan in bed or sweating after a slow walk 😐 I blamed it on drugs. This was 2009. I finally got HRT in 2014, as someone online mentioned perimenopause. I then ignored menopause until 2024, even though symptoms came back. I found I might need testosterone added, but some woman online said it made her grumpy and I couldn't face that on top of everything else mentally. I got an NHS testosterone blood test and it said "normal", but I knew I needed it, so I felt forced to go private, and I used Newson Health as I knew I would be in good hands after consuming Dr Louise Newson's content. I will stay with Newson until I am balanced and hope the NHS take over my prescription as Dr Newson likes to do this. AD's didn't work to improve my mood. It's draining to think of the obstacles put in the way of women our age. You women are all angels. Thank you. 🙏

I fear that I have damaged my bowel through menopause induced chronic inflammation. I had undiagnosed bad IBS in peri, I didn't realise I was in peri or that the IBS was related. Oestrogen stopped it. Then I started bleeding so my Dr and me reduced the oestrogen when it happened again, and I got down to 25mcg. I was "ok" for a bit but then full-blown menopause happened, and the inflamed bowel feeling came back 3 years ago, and I did not get treatment on the bowel as they wanted to do a colonoscopy. 😐 I did try increasing oestrogen without the doctor last year but the bowel remained inflamed. It's only recently I increased oestrogen to 50mcg and added testosterone, thanks to this Angel Dr Louse.

How long does this gel take to be considered as absorbed? I put it on in the morning but I go to the gym a few hours later and shower afterwards...presumably the gel will have been absorbed by then and no need to reapply?

I haven't yet watched all of this as I have seen a lot of Newson's content, which is fab. I just wanted to say, three years on, and despite Dr Newson's excellent work in extensive studying and gathering and disseminating knowledge in a way that is easy to understand, the culture around menopause is still backwards, and she is a trailblazer and I love the way she tirelessly works to change this culture.

TY so much for this informative video but I also think that a 5 mg TESTOGEL sachet should indeed be spread over 10-15 days depending on how good of an absorber you are. We should all rather be overly careful when starting. Get bloodwork and then re-adjust... it is such a disgrace that there is no provider that produces sachets for women!!!♀️♀️♀️

I have 2 questions to women who use patches 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’m about to start using them, instead of the gel + capsule combination. 1. Have you found that there is a better time of the day to apply the patch, in your experience? 2. Do they stick well or rub off easily? How about if you swim in seawater, or go in spa baths or jacuzzis sometimes? 🤔

I've been on the patch for about a year now come January. For me, because I am young and not the target audience for them (25 with a hysterectomy due to a botch labor, go figure), I am on the highest dosage for what is acceptable for my body at this time, so mine is like 3x the size of the one in the video and tends to rub off the moment I put it on and move. I have tried everywhere, legs, butt, stomach, upper back, nothing works for me personally with the patch alone. I've had to purchase tegaderm dressings to cover them. Like a clear waterproof bandaid to put over so they do not rub off. But with the tegaderm I am able to do everything you listed. I've been to the beach, pool and water parks all summer long and had no issues with it rubbing off or water getting under the patches when I was wearing the tegaderm over it. Even retested my levels to make sure it was still consistent. I don't believe it matters what time of day to change it, just try to remain consistent with the days you do change.. If you change on Mondays and Thursdays, of if you have a weekly, stick to those daya. Try not to skip too many days or overwear because your levels can plummet because after the patch turns cloudy its no longer doing anything for you. But I take mine off at times, go take a shower, a nap, forget for a couple hours and then put it on the next morning or so and everything is good. I freaked out a lot about it in the beginning but I do believe the patch is very forgiving.

Why does it say in the box it comes in to apply it on the shoulders for men. But off lable it's used on the thigh, buttock, etc. For women. Are you sure this is safe. Or should women out it on the shoulder too? Usher labs 1% gel 5gram 50mg (Pea sized/M.M. sized amount)

Spread the gel as thinly as possible over the entire area on the inside and outside of your arm from your wrist to your shoulder. Do not massage or rub in EstroGel. That´s from the official page of the manufacturer!

I was allergic to my own progesterone and 21st person in the world diagnosed. I was 37 and had to have full hysterectomy and oopherectomy. I looked like someone coming off of crack. They didn't give me any advice on what I would go through or what I need. they didn't put me on estrogel until a year later which I had to fight for. I now live in south africa and the taboo about menopause here is horrendous and I'm trying to stop the stigma.

This was a very helpful and informative video. I found it fascinating to hear about the origins of the tablets and the effects of it. I had been on a synthetic HRT for a very long time, and a new GP suggested these tablets and oestrogel gel. I was reluctant to change but recognise the reduced risks, and it had been straightforward. Thank you for making the video. Sarah
