That temp reading off the reflective exhaust will always be inaccurate with a Thermal Gun. If you can paint it black in a spot you will get the real reading.

Looks good, thanks for testing and opening. Does not look like it will need a fuel line upgrade but definitely some type of heat sheathing since it is so close to the exhaust. Is the top control box able to be relocated? Looks super easy to kill it by accidentally spilling fuel on it, not the best location. What is the true fuel capacity? Amazon says 1.5 Gal or 6L but the unit shows an 8L mark?
@ModernDIYProjects
@ModernDIYProjects Күн бұрын
The control panel is fixed in place so it cannot be moved. The capacity of the tank is 8L. The Amazon specs may be outdated.

Not really. This one does everything by itself. Just click the temp you want and wait a few seconds for it to prime the system. Then it starts up all by itself.

Great job. Mine is similar but I went with a larger area can to capture more gasses and droplets before hededing out mine is a 4" X 7" basically I atatched like you A cap on one end with the drain valve on the other end I put a clean out coupler with a threaded cap on the end and used pipe tape to seal the threads. I put a baffled plate on the bottom about 1.5" from the bottom to make a reservoir to catch the goo. My inlet and out lets are to stach 1" OD tubes. My choice of screen is very corce SS wool pulled slightly apart so I can easly see light through it. That fills the can from the top of the baffled reservior plate to just below the 1"OD outlet coupler. Like yours I have seperated the right and left side of the can with a wall like baffled plate and a 1" 90% inlet elbow forcing the gasses and droplets in and down the inside of the can. Using up more area of the SS wool filtering matierial to catch the particulats in side the can before going up and out the 1" out let coupler. This has great exit CCV, EGR flow and does an excellent job collecting particulets and liquids. This is in my 08 supperduty 6.4 diesel with 140K miles. Next mod is going to be O-ringed performance Heads and Studs, with Valve cover oilers bilt in. As no one believes I don't need head gaskets and oiling the Rockers etc has always been another isue with this truct. I probably still have head gaskets because I don't race her. She pulls well enough to get everything I want done.

The PPC is around $25 and the RO is around $35. You only need them once a year so not much to worry about. It comes with a set when you buy the unit.

How is once a year determined?@ModernDIYProjects
@ModernDIYProjects
@ModernDIYProjects Күн бұрын
The machine does the determination, just like the one I have under my sink. It's probably based on usage and amount of minerals removed. Dirtier water may cause them to be consumed faster. But aside from that the machine tells you when it's time to replace them.

Hello Sir, (didn't catch your name), just received my exact same heater last week. I took the white metal cabinet off to do a pre-use inspection, fuel line and such before starting mine up. It's built very well and did not find anything loose or crimped. Anyhow, just wanted to let ya know, the plastic grill on the intake end is just screwed on hand tight to the burn chamber. That and the fuel cap will need to be removed to disassemble, then pull out on the side to clear the exhaust tube. Only started mine once so far but I really like it and would buy another. It's my first diesel heater. Enjoy your heater, Ken

For anyone wondering LF-Bros has a very similar heater BUT I think the quality is better in a few different parts. Like the bottom bucket on LF-Bros Is solid heavy duty cast aluminum. Also the cover is held on with clip nuts an screws instead of machine screws that just thread into metal. Also the gas cap seems to have a better o-ring seal on the Lf-Bros, The fuel line has a tiny spring inside it to keep it from collapsing...It doesn't have pop rivets holding things together...

Besides cosmetic differences in quality, does the LF-Bros have better burner or internals? Thanks

@skulledmonte84 I know what you're talking about. I already have the LF Bros "Darth Vader" model. The reason I made this video is because a bunch of people complained in the comments of that review video that the LF Bros was too expensive. So for those folks that don't want to pay so much, this is a good alternative. But I do have a video review for the LF Bros also on my channel page for anyone interested in that review.

I have one. The specs for output and fuel are wrong. I do like it. Heats my 19 x 24 foot living room. I have to run it between setting 4 and 6 when it is 30°F outside. Consumes around 1.5 to 1.7 gallons from 5am to 9pm. Also you CANNOT set by temperature.
@ModernDIYProjects

I would just say that "Your mileage may vary". Keep in mind that this is just a Diesel engine so it may perform differently in different elevations, times of day, run time, etc. I'm sure they tested it under optimal conditions just like all manufacturers do. So yeah mileage will vary. As far as temperature goes I was able to set that in the control panel with no problem. Maybe it's just your control panel acting up.

The microfiber towels are a dollar for 4 and the other ones are $3.99 for 12 if you do the math on it the 3.99 are just a little over 8 cents more per towel so it's not four times as high although it is a little higher you would be better to buy 3 of the dollar packs and save a buck and still have 12 towels

That looks like a nice watch. I’ve never heard of that brand. Are you still using it? Any updates or thoughts on it? My wife bought me an apple watch a couple years ago. The only thing I liked about it was the feature that made my phone beep when it was lost. She’s getting me a Garmin watch this year. it’s less than apple watch, and the battery is supposed to last a week. If I knew about this brand, I probably would have given it a try. Maybe I’ll get one after the Garmin.

great explanation of what has to be done. Thanks for all the tips. One of mine broke about a year ago. Had a local shop come out and fix it. they replaced the spring and I talked myself into replacing them both, thinking i’d save on cost of another trip and the hassle of having them oos. total for both spring replacement was about $500 total. I’m glad I had them do it. it took these guys hours to get it done. i’m sure it would have taken me much longer. but, with your video, now I know how to take care of them better, so maybe they’ll last a long time. Oh, recently, I had reason to poke around my garage door opener app. you know the garage doors track how many times they’ve been used? The side that broke had 3-4x the use the other side had. I probably could have just lubed that other side nicely and saved a couple hundred bucks. Now I know…

what kind of glue would you use for a bathroom ceiling?
@ModernDIYProjects
@ModernDIYProjects 7 күн бұрын
You can use the same Elmers glue. Remember that dry wall is basically just paper glued to chalk. If the surface is coming loose then basic white glue will do just fine. If it goes deeper then you need to remove the bad area and apply Spackle to fill the void.
