Do you control the traveler and the sheets with a single line? I'm learning so much from this video. I have been scrubbing this video like crazy just watching your movements and how you control the sail, move the tiller and position your body.

You're backwinding the sail too soon when you tack. Let it luff until your body has crossed the midline of the boat and the boom is on the midline (or nearly so). Then your back will be in position to nudge the boom to the old windward side giving you the turning moment you need (allowing you to keep your hands free for tiller and sheet), particularly if you reverse the rudders as you cross over. Watch Paddy Butler. You'll see the difference.🐬
@hobieclassaustraliaАй бұрын
Thanks for the tip, will try that out next time out on the water! Azza & Paddy have been talking techniques!

As much as we'd love to put on some racing footage, we hardly got a thing! MB, Azza & Dazza got a little bit of racing footage, but it's all the boring stuff! Paddy didn't turn on his forestay GoPro once!

I got my 5007 for $100 with trailer with a busted mast. Hulls are not in good enough condition to refurb as a sailing boat so its going to be an electric river cruiser.

Cracker. Nice squeeze through the finish. Who had ROW, you were leeward but were you overtaking? It’s hard hard hear what you said (“is there water here”)? Looked again he was starboard you were port, cheeky.
@Rottingboards4 ай бұрын
Never done this before. It looks like a blast. (08:40- ) Why do you have to constantly tug and then let out line on the sail? Is this because you are going up and down waves? Thanks for the exciting video.

In order to keep the boat flat, fast and firing with maximum velocity, it is critical to adjust the mainsheet (power) whilst steering through the wind chop. Glad you liked it, go ahead and give it a go some time!

Well done Patrick 👍😁 I wonder if that little pink pig on the dolphin striker was wishing for a little more downhaul, a little more mast rotation & a little less traveler on the upwind though. 😁. Remember that little pig has been around the block a couple of times but, to be fair, he has never won a world championship. 💕.
@patrickbutler__4 ай бұрын
The young fella on the helm was barely 61kg back then, don't think I could've had more rotation if I tried (definitely more cunno thought!) Poor little pig is collecting dust in the factory now waiting for her next adventure!
