My Celestron Nexstar Solar System Imager came with an introductory guide on using Registax. In this version they ask you to select a reference frame which is used for calculation. Also they move settings on that registration graph. Its an older version 2.4 and the menu has changed a bit.

The only negative with this video: audio was quiet even on full volume other than that, great!

I don’t really consider myself a pro at this. Was just playing around. Glad it was still of use.

wmtiaol thanks. It’s quite an old video but I don’t think Registax has changed since so all still relevant.

Every time I try to stack after the aligning process an error message comes up " X Out of memory" not sure why, I have a relative new computer so memory shouldn't be an issue. I have reduced the number of stacked images down to only 5 (jpg) and still same result. Any ideas?

It's amazing how these belts transform the movement of a telescope. So simple.

No, this did not work. When I up load my video, Registax goes straight into "Do All" and shows 6 layer boxes down the left side of box. Have tried it many times. If I hit the align button the image disappears and I have to go look for it again and I just go round in circles.

so after forking out a small fortune for a decent mount you need to upgrade it... :(
@stevebassett37096 жыл бұрын
Michael King, Need to upgrade? No. Totally optional. As with everything there’s always room for improvement. You may find that your happy with what it can achieve as it is. Since doing this upgrade I’ve seen improved guiding results and obviously the noise is a lot better. To be honest if your happy with what your mount is doing right now then leave it as it is but there are company’s out there now doing these mods and proving the improvements they make. Check out DarkFrame optics for more info on it. My biggest regret is that I didn’t do any proof testing prior to the upgrade so any results obtained after it are kind of meaning less.

Yeh I’m pretty sure it made things better. No data to back that up mind. Good luck with you upgrade.

Strongly recommend this mod along with replacing the bearings and bushings with HQ components. Will get you down to 1 arc/sec PE. Put off my AP Mach 1 upgrade for a year or two :-)

I've had a lot of problems with my heq5, but the belt mod kit came yesday, so hoping it will cure a lot of guiding probs. but I took it apart and cleaned the bearings and lightly greased them, but I may replace all bearings as the ones fitted are not the best !

I have used it in the past for stacking moon shots (not videos) and it worked perfectly but for past few months...it just doesn't go after the "Align" step. It just hangs and has to be turned off by using the Task Manager or some other option. What can I do to rectify this issue?
@stevebassett37098 жыл бұрын
I haven't come across this problem before. Are you using the most up to date version? Perhaps a complete uninstall and reinstall is needed? Or maybe try running an older version such as Registax 5. It may of course be an issue with the computer but then id expect you to see problems with other software. Registax developers can be contacted via the website or maybe if all options are exhausted perhaps try a different stacking software package such as autostakkert2 which is very good www.autostakkert.com/

Steve Bassett I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and have also tried changing different settings but it always gets stuck. I will download the software you advised. Thanks

So what were the results of testing under load and tracking tests?
@stevebassett37098 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, I never found time to capture any statistical data on the tracking improvements, the biggest mistake I made was not taking any "before mod" data. Even if I were to do some tracking tests now the results wouldn't really mean much. However, I have seen quite a big improvement in my exposure times and there is no backlash, providing I get a good balance on the mount and good polar alignment. The next stage for me will be to have the mount hyper tuned, its probably overdue to be honest. The dec axis does have a tiny amount of play in it which is magnified when under load. The fact that the noise of the mount has been considerably cut is a huge plus for me too. 2 years on now and still very happy with it, money well spent in my opinion
