K, WTF, a 1990 ford Taurus with 140hp was used as a tow vehicle? Man I love this era.

I owned that Taurus and with a transmission made of glass, I am sure it blew up after a few boat tows.

I have owned 3 of Roger MacGregors Boats. First one was in 1987. Now own a 2001 MacX since new. I have personal Testimony to many Tens of Thousands of Miles under those 3 hulls, and most bodies of water, I wished to sail upon, as well, He may be retired but his legacy shall be around for many decades. He says 35K boats at this point, (In the Vid) easily 40K+ total, May actually be a record for just one person to manufacture that long, and that many produced, as a Boat Industry Company! He achieved what few do in one's life! You can Love or Hate them, I have always Loved them, It has what I want to get out on the water safely and with what I need it to do! That is simply ALL that matters folks! Do not hesitate to buy any Mac ever built, if it was never damaged nor improperly maintained, otherwise! Know Roger gave us all he could at a reasonable price point, and again Safe access upon the waves! He surely made ALL the dreams I ever had, come true! Thank You Sir!

Also, being 67 YO, I first became aware of them back in the early 1970's as he placed ads in the Popular Mechanics Magazines, a small pic and maybe a 3 liner ad. He really needed not much more as folks got what he was selling! As soon as I could afford one, I bought one, and never regretted it! The man is quite that "One Man Show". Sometimes I swore he actually built all his boats, LOL He certainly designed in-house, and Family kept him afloat through the many hard times in the industry! He made wise and intelligent business decisions that kept those boats in production. I gained personal knowledge when I lived out in California, as a US Marine, I lived there for 32 years, and his Factory was always a Welcome place, a smile, and a Handshake from Roger himself! He never got the credit I personally think he deserves, and I do mean that!

I just spied an ad, for one of his very first boats, a 1967 model. Probably made in his Garage even! It looked like it was in Great Shape, and I am pretty sure was way more of a price than Roger first sold it for, as well. That was Last week Dec 2022. So, it just shows that if you take care of what Roger Made, it can last even THAT long!!! I'd say that they will be around in the NEXT Millennia! We won't be around, but his boats will!

Nice video, but what was that small car that was able to tow a boat that size??
@kenmammel77483 жыл бұрын
That small car pulling the boat was probably a full size Mercury Marquis or Ford Crown Victoria.

@@sfmouse18 - 'sorry to hear that I've a Macgregor 21 I've mounted a bunch of solar panels on that power a couple of trolling motors. I've kept an eye on the different 25 and 26 foot Macs and kind of dream about the added room they have. I've got too much fabrication in the current boat to think of doing it all again, but thanks. Here's a couple of short videos I made. The Mac and a 16 foot canoe. With a different motor and prop I think I can get up towards 4-5 mph. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXW4Y4yYgJWGo9U kzbin.info/www/bejne/eX7PfIucjrqXsLs kzbin.info/www/bejne/boqVdZSdd7mUbsU

@@garygerard4290 how is it with the trolling motors? What is your top speed and range? Are your solars panels enough to keep up with putting around on your trolling motor ? Thanks for sharing

@@vlogcity1111 - I decommissioned the canoe. The re-worked sailboat has an overkill amount of solar power, at the current time on a day with Any kind of sun out I don't touch the batteries - a pair of of 12 volt - 100 amp hour Battle Born lithium's - I know, I know, they're over kill also - ha. Top speed is 3.5 mph - this is with a pair of Minn Kota 12 volt 55 lbs thrust trolling motors. Using just one motor I do a bit under 3. This is all figured by timing how long it takes to pass a leaf in the water using a stop watch This is written down in Feet Per Second then switched to Miles Per Hour. Trolling motors are meant to Troll. Putting a half dozen of them on a boat ought to get you the same 3.5 I doubt putting one on a 10 foot canoe would get you 4.0 I have toyed with getting a 24 volt Elco 5 hp outboard. The motor is brush-less and up, out of the water like a conventional gas engined outboard. They are water cooled. The price is like $2500? At the current 3.5 mph you can be in the middle of a Large lake and you know you're moving, 'not like your just out there bobbing along. It would be great to be able to do 4.5 or 5 'you know to impress the babes! I love the quietness of the boat and what is the most fun for me is getting 30 feet off shore and just following the shore line. Currently the boat has a 400 lbs retractable keel that I am thinking of removing. I've never lowered it. In the Up position it hangs down some 6" below the hull. I can get into water easily 18" deep and maybe down to 12? I get out there and cook up hot dogs and sit in the shade and suck on a beer. 'and curse those damm noisy gas boats. 'keep on boatin'
