Been a very stressful week need something bloody and gory to help me wind down!!! Might give this a watch because of the review!!! Was rewatching Late Night With The Devil and thinking maybe this would have been better as a short story in one of those VHS movies! The movie wasn't bad it just felt like I was watching something from those movies specially the ending!! Thanks

Hey man. Been a minute. I gotta say that I never completely got down with this series. The first one wasn't bad. Tried to watch the second one, but I don't remember if I finished it. But I will tell you the movie that I am high on. Willy's Wonderland is a complete banger. I absolutely love the absurdity of it and how they went balls out. But somehow, they managed to keep it grounded in reality. Oh, and I finally got to see Zombieland: Double Tap. Really good, but a slight letdown.

I do plan on reading the books. In the meantime, I'm gonna continue to go in these seasons blind. It's fun not knowing what to expect and being totally surprised by everything. But I will read each book once the series is over with.

Duuuuude! 😁 This is absolutely one of my favorite trilogy movies ever. 'X' being my favorite, the whole series had its nice story arcs and gnarly scenes... But Mia Goth, damn, she brings it... I loved her in 'Infinity Pool' too. Yeah, I loved these to the XXX-treme. 😆🙌

As far as Lestat and Louis's relationship is concerned, the only time Lestat lied to Louis, was when he said he had killed Antoinette by presenting her finger to Claudia, but even there, he technically did kill her as he made her into a vampire, thus ending her human life. Otherwise, it has been Armand all day every day with lie after lie. Even when found out, still lying. Part of me thinks (other than for book reasons) that Louis spared Armand, is that he can't actually kill him. As much as he wants to, when it comes to love, as Claudia so eloquently screamed at him, it makes him stupid. End of the day, Lestat still flew across the waters and sat there and rehearsed and acted in the play intended to kill his beloved and his daughter, and Armand directed it and was ready to see them all burn. We still need more justice for Claudia which I guess they gave in the fact that both Lestat and Louis are haunted by her memory.

I just loved it! Daniel Malloy’s cynicism made it all make sense!! I only wish that Santiago’s death had been slowed down, such a perfect villain needed more screen time. I’ll be ordering Season 3, I hope AMC brings back the same writers for Lestat.

I have read the trilogy of books;Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned. I, kind of, have an idea of how season three could look. Lestat would do anything to protect Louis. Lestat has to shift the angry vamps to focus on him instead of Louis. That would play very well for Lestat to become a rockstar from The Vampire Lestat.

@@dontsplitup I am in my 50s and I was around 14 years old in the early 80s when I read interview with the vampire. Most people don’t realize that it was written in the early 70s. I think I read the other two when I was an older teenager. If you haven’t seen the movie from the 90s with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, it’s worth watching. It follows the book. That way you can kind of get an understanding of how and why they changed things in the series. In the book, Claudia, was a very young child; about five or six years old. I think Claudia being 14 in the series, works better. It’s extremely difficult for a younger actress to portray cognitive aging. Kirsten Dunst was around 10 or 11 years old when she did the movie and, I think she’s the exception.

It goes to show how great these books are and how they can still work and be entertaining. I agree that Kirsten Dunst was excellent in the Claudia role from the film. Maybe I'm a bit biased as well because I'm a sucker for great vampire stories. Really appreciate your recommendations, notes and insight.

I had reservations about Jacob Anderson as Louis, but he's an incredible actor and gave a very passionate performance in this series. You have to look at this series on its own merits (which are many)- it's not the book, it's not the movie, it's its own entity. I can't remember the last time I was eagerly waiting for the next episode of a series. A great season all around.

@@dontsplitup The books, ranked: 'Interview' and 'The Vampire Lestat'- the best of the series. Good: 'Blood and Gold', Queen of the Damned'. Just OK: 'Merrick' (pretty unmemorable, actually) 'Memnoc, the Devil' (takes about fifty pages to get going), 'Prince Lestat' (very uneven, some parts are very good, others read like bad fan fiction). Bad: 'The Tale of the Body Thief', 'Pandora' (reads like a draft for a novel) The worst: 'Blood Canticle' (Quite literally one of the worst books I've ever read- uneven pacing, clumsy dialog, unbelievable characters- avoid at all costs) Haven't read: 'Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis'.

@@dontsplitup A few more I forgot: 'Vittorio the Vampire'- A story set in Renaissance Italy, it falls into the Good category, and 'The Vampire Armand', which unfortunately introduces some of the most annoying characters in the whole series. Armand is more interesting when he's evil; this book elaborates on his backstory, it's just OK. Rice's writing ranges from incredible to sloppy, especially in her later books, where she seems to just be cranking them out without an editor.
