Usually during comps pilots open their equipment and do various checks. I did them and everything looked fine. Honestly the string that closes the harness wasn't my main focus since it never gave any problems. Now I periodically check whether it's still tight or not, but soon it won't be necessary

Never fly with your hands all the way up. . How do you expect to feel your wing if you are grabbing your risers? Bad habit. Always keep your lines taut !!
@flyingplm
@flyingplm 8 ай бұрын
That's completely wrong. I wasn't "grabbing the risers", I was piloting using the D-risers which is different (same principle used on 2-liners). If you're at full speed the worst thing you can do is to break a little to "feel the wing". It's like pulling your handbrake a bit while trying to go full gas on your car. The reason why I didn't feel the collapse right away with the risers is because the glider is old and not trimmed, nothing to do with the risers (if you look carefully you can see that I almost immediately got off the speedbar, because I felt it there)
@fun3721
@fun3721 8 ай бұрын
@@flyingplm You were piloting the wing by using D risers is the same as grabbing the risers. Haha. I would like to correct you. Irrespective of how fast you are flying, you always want to keep your lines taut. Keeping the lines taut is not equivalent to braking. Taut lines maintain internal pressure in the wing. It is as simple as that. Its a part of active piloting.
@flyingplm
@flyingplm 8 ай бұрын
@@fun3721 Generally speaking you want to have some tension on the lines in turbulent air or in zones where you know something might happen. Practically the less input you give the better the paraglider will glide. Other than that using the D lines is not grabbing the risers. When you pilot a 2 liner is piloting with the B riser considered 'grabbing the risers'? The glider is old, but if it were new using the D lines would've been effective (it's just a question of habits really) and I would've felt the collapse. If your goal is to go full speed you can't expect to have the best performance if you try to apply tension (you will pull a bit, it's inevitable) on the back risers you will inevitably change its geometry hence less performance. Obviously in this case it was just for fun but in a racing performance point of view those are important facts
@fun3721
@fun3721 8 ай бұрын
@@flyingplm No sir, you always have some tension in the lines. In calm air even more so. These are basics of flying irrespective of what kind of wing you are flying. You are flying a 4 liner and comparing it with a 2 liner. Bad comparison. Anyways. I just shared my thoughts on basic safety aspects. Good luck driving a Ford whilst comparing it with a Ferrari :)

You flying a en-A or en-B glider? That looked like a pretty benign frontal on full bar, im sure it didn’t feel that way, but they get much more energetic when you get to the high-B, I had a 70% or more asymmetric on my maestro 2 light, and after the recovery it shot all the way past the horizon, I stopped it from cascading and flew away, but the same collapse on my UP Dena (En-A) would have been uneventful with little to no pilot input, but on the maestro it took all of my SIV experience to keep it under control.
@flyingplm
@flyingplm Жыл бұрын
The wing in the video is an EN-A. You're right, it didn't feel terrible, my reaction was immediately to catch the dive but I could've easily slept in that moment😂😂 The difference between this wing and my Photon is that the photon really lets me know if anything is going to happen, while this wing didn't give me any info, the frontal collapse just happened
@SkidzFPV
@SkidzFPV Жыл бұрын
@@flyingplm yea, same with going from my Dena to my maestro, the feedback is much more pronounced on the maestro, was difficult to get used to. Also with the Dena when I was about to have a collapse i would feel it in my hips, i would loose lift on one side and sometimes be able to catch it before it happened, sometimes it would just happen without warning, but with the maestro I don’t feel it in my hips, i feel it in lose of brake pressure, so I’ve found it much more important to fly with just a little brake pressure and if the pressure drops I need to pump the brake hard and fast and i can stop a collapse from happening In most cases.

Lovely raw vid! I just bought the base 2 and i flying the ML size at 98kg, Do you think it is fine?. Thanks for share!
@flyingplm
@flyingplm Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much mate! The weight range really depends on the conditions, I'd suggest to fly it a bit more loaded since it can go up to 108 kg. I used to fly it at 105 and it performs very well. 10 kg under is a bit too much! You risk a lot of collapses, plus it can't penetrate wind very well. Technically with this low weight you should always be on the speedbar, which might not be ideal for starters. A good rule of thumb is to be 3-4 kg max under the max weight range for three liners. For instance I fly my Photon at 101 kg in weak conditions and 103 kg in stronger ones. A two liner is very sensible to weight change, but it was just to give you an idea.

@@Jo.G I think it's the greatest C 2 liner out there, especially if you want to do competitions. I want to be more clear about the previous comment, what I meant is that if you want to tightly turn in a strong thermal it is hard, it seems like it doesn't want to turn at all. But if you want to do a shallower turn it's good. This is the only "bad" thing about it. In strong turbulence it's super solid and the performance for the category is positively absurd. I absolutely recommend it. Obviously it's not a starter wing and being a 2 liner requires a certain type of piloting
