Just found this week ago. I heard a comment saying no rposthis young. I definitely can see why. I’ve installed a q power swing rpo tho. I’m hoping that potentially maybe next year or later in the year, maybe playoffs to try 1 with a qb/rb mesh. I did want to tell you guys I definitely appreciated this forum. It gave me confidence. I’m still a wing t guy but we run just about all the air raid concepts. So we’re wing raid I guess. I’ve even moved my best 2 athletes to receiver slot with a staple of rbs who have no problem running buck power counter because the other 8/9 year olds are so confused 😂😂

Hey Coach, on the G Counter that the 10u team is doing, what do you teach the backside tackle to do?
@jeffreyandruczyk9222Ай бұрын
If running quick game....stick, corner, fade out. 6 man box. BOB up front. What does F do? Looks for MLB blitz. Check release? Or do we just run the concept and anticipate the MLB not getting there?

I've coached middle school football for a decade and we don't have a minimum play rule, so we have a 5th quarter for those kids. This way they can play against other kids their level and the coaches dont have to worry about getting players who aren't ready to play out on the field during the real game.

Can you just run the play to the strong/TE/wing side? That way you’ll still have your backside gimmes. A TE corner, a wide Wing stick, and the back on the swing may work? Or use a call (flop in Simpson’s system) to move your A over as a WR on the strong side, stand up and slightly widen the TE and Wing by a step and you have a tight version of your early set. Should still be able run buck sweep with them standing up and any of the quick game.

lol good eye coach. This was during Covid, we are from Northern CA and there was a club team league in Southern CA that was proffering a place for these juniors and senior to play so they could get some film for recruiting They literally put together a field on the fly and this is how it came out.
@coachd64776 ай бұрын
With 6th graders would you have wideouts all the way out to the numbers?
@CoachLasker5 ай бұрын
Hey coach great question. We do this exercise when selecting QBs as throwing a nice 1 step fade is a HUGE part of our Air Raid offense. Start your WR at the Hash and have your QB take the snap, take one step drop and throw a nice easy fade over the WR outside shoulder. If he can without straining and having to step into his throw too hard, move the WR out a few steps and try it again Keep move the WR out until your QB can not take a one step drop and calmly drop the ball over his outside shoulder. Just don’t go past the top of the numbers. That is where the outside WR belongs and the slot or Y can split the difference Make sense?
@CoachLasker5 ай бұрын
Sorry, that is what we do on fade out and stick since we throw fades on those For the Corner concept specially we ALWAYS want the outside WR on the top of the numbers so he has more open grass to sit in, before or after the overhang defender. Always at the top of the numbers for snag concepts the more grass the better

@CoachLasker6 ай бұрын
great question coach Murphy! I personally do but it's not a hard rule. I like it for two reasons: 1. natural rubs and confuse. 2. most importantly, I feel like if gives our QBs a better view of that 2/3 read which is typically our read for the younger kids....

Snag is one of my favorite concepts, going backside with dig(1)-post(2) opens this up tremendously as well.
@CoachLasker6 ай бұрын
love that coach. been very interesting hearing other ideas back side and I love this! it is what we do in 7v7 for sure, attacking the deep middle!
@coachmaher6 ай бұрын
@@CoachLasker I always enjoy your stuff and your double hitch on back side makes a ton of sense as well, especially with your rules on Verts which I love. I really like my QB to peek the post, read S go corner and if no corner, go snag and when in doubt, the BACK IS ALWAYS OPEN.

Is this typical arm strength and ability for a 10u Qb?
@CoachLasker6 ай бұрын
Hey coach. So we kinda gauge this from year to year by simply running out Pat n go warm up fades and just start the WR at the hash, see if the WB can hit him nice and easy over his outside should on a jog… keep scooting him out until he really has to strain to do it. Just neeed this pass to threaten the other team for our 3 grass read offense to work 10U kids that can make good decisions only need to throw 15-20 yards since we bunch those WRs down
@charlesaskew86196 ай бұрын
Thanks Coach. Another Question. I had my first 7s tournament. Unfortunately, it was in the rain. I had two qbs, one 8yo throws about 20-23yds max, the other 9yo throws about 30yds max. My younger made quicker decisions when the read was there, however forced some a little and struggled in the rain. Improved when it dried up a bit. My older had an easier time throwing to the outside but was slow to pull over the middle which caused sacks and ints (did not play in the rain) How should I evaluate their performances? @@CoachLasker
