Poverty is likely worse now. Social housing is now harder to get, and jobs are harder to find due to mass immigration.

Like Duchamp, Brandt was as talented as he was connected and privileged. He didn't "travel through Europe effortlessly"- he was soaked in family money!

This man can only be called a smooth operator. Too many people famous or not fell under his spell due to his charm and the high position he should have never attained. In America he would fall under the category of a bull shit artist. His only redeeming value was loaning the "Mona Lisa" to the United States as a favor to Jacqueline Kennedy when she was First Lady. While of course it was absolutely horrible that his two sons were killed in a car crash and that regardless of that tragedy a few days later he still made the trip for the opening exhibition for the Mona Lisa he leave much to be desired as a human being.

It breaks my heart to see the state of these buildings - these treasures - but perhaps a digital reconstruction could lead to an actual, physical resurrection one day. The restoration of Schlodien has already begun. As far as I know, I have no connection with East Prussia, but it's a place I feel a strong fascination and great nostalgia for.

Deep - Dark - Pure enigmatic brilliance. Certainly way ahead of time. With its geometry modernism, layrin and play of light its too complex to be understood by most people, however it look like a total paradise for people like myself. People who don't believe in flowery and fairy notion of buildings. It is so unique and thought provoking.

I was born in hemlington in 83 and moved when I was 3 but still visited family from both sides who still lived there but when my dad died in 93 I didn't go anymore. My mam's family had left by that time but it still holds a place in my heart even though it's definitely not the same anymore

I have seen these works the more sit and spend time just looking they are deeply moving . In this day and age that's usual because there is no quick fix. Rothko's work envelopes you.

I was in the episode that highlighted navigation of the armies at the time. I was a serving soldier then, and channel 4 came to our unit and filmed us. The filming took all day and we were on the screen for a few short seconds; I guess that’s why I missed my big break ….

The vast majority of those Germans supported the Nazi regime and as such all the atrocities that they have caused. Of course they had to be expelled from the new Czechoslovakia and Poland. How can you live among someone who just a short time ago wanted to kill you!

Hi! I remember watching this series when it first came out and I have been wanting to watch it again. Could you let me know where I can get the complete series. I wouldn't mind watching it on your channel if you upload it all. I believe there must have been 4 or 5 episodes or even more.

Simply " Class " McAlmonts voice is amazing , & the song is very moving and emotional 1st heard this in the mid 90s and was hooked on the duo Sadly they didn't have that many hits , I guess they didn't appeal to mainstream radio stations or teenage song buyers of the day But these were a brilliant duo

Tejeros coup was almost successful. Had it succeeded, he would have been Francos successor as a fascist dictator. It's not certain if he would have kept the King as a figurehead or abolished the monarchy.
