First it was frozen, i cleaned it and oiled it. The it was starting to sow but the tension was not quite right. I thought i was almost there. Then it froze completely. There was a lot of lint/ yarn dust in the bobbin holder in the machine and i tried to remove it. I think it’s need a service but it’s so expensive 😢. I’m really disappointed. The machine shines and the cabinet is fixed beautifully and the threadle and bobbinwinder are working. Does anybody have a suggestion how to get this old machine moving?

Thank you for this video, I have followed you through all of this and everything is great except my Montgomery wards machine has an issue with the foot and lever being stuck, any suggestions?
@daily_glowАй бұрын
I have this exact machine, complete with the user manual. However, the bobbin winder isnt working and the bobbin winder mechanism seems different than all the other machines I've watched on KZbin. It might be that the little black rubber (?) tire thing. We took it out and are trying to clean it and see if that will work.
@daily_glowАй бұрын
But anyway, if anyone has a question for the owner's manual, let me know. I'll take pictures of it if someone needs it.

I got the bobbin winder working. So I had to remove the black rubber "tire" like wheel thing and get oil all in that part above it. The tire probably needs to be replaced, too, but I didn't have a replacement with me right now. But yeah it's working! It was a LOT of cleaning, oiling and then cleaning away excess oil. Very tedious work but exciting to have success!

Singer Model 66 was introduced at the turn of the 19th to the 20th Century in 1900. Singer deemed it THE Sewing machine of the 20th Century....These early Singers were small examples of the Industrial Revolution.....and the key to keeping these machines working was OIL...NOT 4 in One !! Use good quality sewing machine oil like Singer, Lily, or Zoom to name 3...Four in One oil leaves a dark varnish based residue...You can see it on vintage machines which were lubricated by 4 in One .Singer was always and is a pure oil ...I also like synthetic versions like Tri-Flow and Liquid Beaings. Read your manual on where to oil and how often. In fact the finish on old Singers was made to be cleaned using Singer oil....then you're decals will be safe..

What are the cutting mats you used? I have the regular Gemimi. I sometimes use magnetic vent covers to cut dies. All of the plates cost too much.. And the hot water and cookie sheet is tiring.
@scrapinmaniac4 ай бұрын
I actually use the Spellbinders GC-014 Grand Calibur Junior Base Plate, 8.5 by 6-Inch amzn.to/3VZhgr9 and one Gemini plate plus cardboard shim for all my thin dies. It does not warp my plates and way cheaper. And as for the Gemini plates, I used generic plates, 6 x 9" Die Cutting Plates Die Cutting Machine Accessaries (Clear).amzn.to/4eXYhFZ. Test this sandwich. Hope this works for you.

Thank you sooo much for all the information. I always try to do my tune ups on my machines. Question: Why is it that we shouldn't use oil on the gears? Thank you in advance for your awesome Help. Greetings from Bakersfield,California 😊

Thank you for sharing this wonderful information about this sewing machine. My truest best friend gave me her mother's sewing machine and her mother has passing to be with the heavenly Father. And I had no idea how to thread this machine until I typed in the model number and I showed me the video. Once again thank you for Susie Williams from Cuero Texas.

Man do I love the internet and KZbin. 😆 I knew I had one of these things and I never used it because it never worked properly. With all the "stamping wheels" coming to the market I thought this would produce a similar result. Thank you for this oldie but goodie. I will have to try this out to see if my assumption is correct.

Hi on the Gemini I have several other plates. A white one and rubber mat, don’t you use them with your dies and embossing? I might try self healing mats because the cutting plates bow easily and are expensive. Thanks though.xx

I hope to make some of these soon. Thank you for all the work you put into this video. You did an excellent job. Yes, there is always a right and wrong side of the fabric. I used to work in a garment factory and learned how to know the difference. Yes it is VERY hard to tell so most people don’t need to worry about it, but if you look at both sides in a well lit area you can see it. The right side is on the bolt, so i make an X on the wrong side,so I can keep it correct. You can use a stiletto at 50:40 to help tuck the towel in.

I have this very model and need to replace the large belt. Would you be able to give me any info on that at this time. I know this video was made some time ago, so I'm shooting in the dark maybe. I need to know how to do it and would buying from a site that supposedly shows the exact belts for this model be a good idea? My concern is that they have been sitting on a shelf for forty years. Thanks.
