I wanted to teach math in the 70's until I learned that teachers can't carry protection. Those of you in high school at that time might remember the seemingly constant news about teachers getting shot. So it is nothing new people. But it still falls back to the parents and parenting or lack of.

So inspiring. I'm burnt out and would love to hear more about ed tech. I want to make more than teaching provides too, it's not easy leaving a profession you worked so hard to make happen. The way admin isn't supportive of teachers also makes it a crunchy space of hmmm..

School is virtually the only activity where there is absolutely no requirement that participants demonstrate an aptitude for the activity hence the thanklessness of providing academic instruction to legions of dullards, ingrates and sociopaths. Any sensible person will rapidly come to their senses and quit, preferably after student teaching to get their degree, once they’ve realized that their BS Ed is a useless degree and that they need to find something else to do which is more suitable for a functional adult not enamored with the romance of babysitting. Of course if you want to run your own daycare center that could actually be quite a good business, but teaching dunces not so much.
