I worked there when I was 18 before it closed down fully. It was fully operational but the running of the laundry was taken over by Kelso laundry,well that’s whom I was hired by. Some of the women resident in the sister of charity were still there, accompanied by the sisters. My heart went out to them. You could tell they had suffered a hard life.
