Food banks are great but the thing is, they only treat the symptom of the inequalities that are put in place by the government so they never really solve the issue. The real benefit scroungers are the rich and to big corporations with bail-outs and tax cuts, yet the government cuts social services to the point of starving and freezing people to death, making them make impossible choices. And so many people are led up the garden path and go along with it and believe that it's the poorest who are to blame instead of looking at Westminster!

The lady helping her isn't an actress. She works in our local foodbank in North Shields, the director chose her for the role after visiting the local foodbank to do some research into how they run. She is an amazing woman, as are all who give their time for others.

In the play no one finds her and comforts her, act 1 ends with her eating the beans and crying alone on the stage. Both very different scenes yet completely poignant. I've never been so moved. I thought I was aware to the struggles in the world but nothing has ever shocked me yet opened my eyes so much quite like I, Daniel Blake

I know these type of women. They will: 1. Dismiss education and mock intellectualism 2. Refuse to remain chaste until marriage 3. Fornicate with men of African origin, who will inevitably leave them 4. Mock the middle classes to whom education and monogamy is more endemic 5. Expect the middle classes to pay for their poor life choices F*** 'em. Tell me I'm wrong.

Love how this film portrays the everyday northeasterners as really soothing and friendly people that we are. When I used to work in a call centre I spoke to people everyday around the country who told me I really relaxed and put them at ease about their stressful problems. We are a region that has fought through some of the worst poverty and hardships with our once thriving industries. I was born in 1991 and the people who raised me are all fondly thought of when I reflect on who I am. It may be controversial for me to admit I just wish I could be working down the pit with my mates proper grafting away. Sure it was dangerous environment but it was a primal habit we are born with to help us live and thrive with. If the job took my life earlier than planned I'd just smile feeling proud of being a provider for my family and friends. Respect to any ex miners, brickies, steel workers, lads who used to lay the black stuff on our roads back in the day. Be proud boys and girls because you've made being northern mean a great deal.

I love how the people in food banks treat people with such dignity and respect by using sentences like can you help with her shopping today like she's just at the supermarket rather then say things like this womans Hungary get her some food it must be so hard to ask for help like this but I have huge respect for the strong people that do do it and we should be so greatful that we are lucky and privileged enough to have these kind of places and all the amazing people that help keep it all running with what some people are going through right now we have to be thankful for everyone and everything we have my mom cried at this scene btw she went in the bathroom to do it but I new this had gotten to her

This movie is the reason why I buy extra period products and put it in the food bank bin at my local Tesco's. A lot of people donate food (and it's so appreciated by those needing to use the food bank), but it's not always about tinned beans and tinned veggies. It's also about fresh food and products to be able to wash and live a normal life.

As an Australian, I find it so bizarre that life is like this in the UK. I know it is because I have friends in the UK. It blows my mind how little minimum wage is. And how poorly nurses are paid, (and how overworked they are) for example. What shocks me even more is that people live in poverty... but somehow the Tories keep getting voted in. I just don't understand it.

The government thinks that Universal Credit helps people to get into work. It does the complete opposite. People are barely scraping by and have to rely on food banks like in this scene and number of food banks have grown greatly over the years. Food banks couldn't handle the great amount of people nowadays due to the Corona Virus pandemic.
