@@phillindablank this is my other account. So just an update on the Roland CDX-1 I came up on at the swap meet....upon further inspection, I noticed some features were not working. So I located a Roland repair center not far from me here in Los Angeles. I've yet to take it to get repaired. I also have an MPC 2500 that I use occasionally I bought that back in 2006. For a friend: S O S . My beloved 30 year-old Yamaha QY300 has just packed in. Unless I can get hold of another one, I’ve lost 30 years of work - backing tracks & arrangements for every band I’ve ever worked with, and all my own music too. Is there anybody out there who has a Yamaha QY300 music sequencer tucked away? The floppy disc drive on mine has seized up. (YES, floppy discs!). I’ve been meaning to convert all my QY files to midifiles and save them on a PC. I will then be able to open them on Cubase (which I now use) but, like an idiot, I’ve not got round to it. I’m trying out all sorts of other partial solutions, but the only simple and complete solution is to have a QY300 with a working floppy disc drive - just to convert and save all my QY files. I’d happily buy on. But if anyone’s got one that they want to keep, I’d happily pay to borrow it for a week. Please, can anyone help?

Hey Phil, thanks for the video. Recently I bought a Cs1x and I don't understand very much how to edit my sounds, this is my first synth in my life and it's feels a little bit tricky. It'd be awesome if you can make a tutorial teaching how to edit the layers from the synth without the computer, I'd be really glad. By the way, I already suscribed your channel. Thanks a lot!

Hey Charly, I’m happy to hear that you just got a CS1x! It’s a great synth with loads of potential for sound design. Unfortunately, I no longer have my CS2x as I had to sell it due to me moving a few years back. It was my first big synth and had a lot of fun discovering it’s features. If I ever come across another one for a decent price I’ll be sure to make another tutorial on it. Just a heads up, it takes a lot longer editing sounds on the machine itself. Thanks for watching & subscribing!

I sold my Volca FM. I thought it was cool that old DX patches could be loaded on to it, but I never even used the feature once... after a week of using it I realized that other than some bass patches I do not like the DX7 sound. It's all the bell-ish sounding stuff it produces. I like some of the dirtier FM sounds but... I can safely say I will never buy a DX7 or DX100. Now with the volca modular, I got ALL excited when I saw that shit, but I for once in my life intuited what a pain in the ass it could be. Lately I have been thinking about branching into some BASTL stuff. Have you jammed with the KASTL in any videos?

Hey man, I'm not sure the Syntakt has sampling capabilities (I don't think so but im not sure). However, if there is a line in on the device I believe you can change the sounds through some signal processing (adding fx and filters). If so I would see in the manual how to process incoming sound from the line input on the Syntakt.

Phill friend how is everything? Sorry for the inconvenience, I have a tremendous doubt, I don't know how I can put different effects on each pad that I need, when I change to a new sampler, the one I used for a previous sampler is also changed, for example compression, if I compress the bass drum and then I want to put reverb to another, the bass drum is changed to reverb too, am I doing something wrong? I would appreciate if you have any solution to my question.
@phillindablank
@phillindablank Жыл бұрын
Hi Boris! I'm glad you asked that question because im sure it is something that a lot of people have when using the MPC 500. If you see in the manual there is a section on "resampling". It is the recommended method to use multiple effects for different pads in your production. Say if you want to keep the compression on the bass drum, you simply go into the record section, switch the main inputs to resample, arm the record section and tap on the bass drum to make a new sample. From there you assign the new sample to the pad of the old bass drum and then remove the effect on the pad of the new compressed bass drum. The other pad will have the reverb once you assign the reverb effect to the other pad.

Hey man I’ve been going through the same thing as you, and unfortunately I don’t have a solution for it yet. Reason being, that whenever I save Entire Memory Project on my device the All Seq & Song Data gets overwritten with every new song you create. It’s probably the reason why your songs have been disappearing after a few days. In order to mitigate this I heard you have to save each project/song/seq/program data in a separate folder on your CF card but I haven’t gotten this to work just yet. If I find a good solution I’ll make a video about it!
