Great video Phil in Da Blank. Your videos on the 500 have always been inspiring. I hope you continue to do more. I love my MPC500 but unfortunately it's been getting more faulty and now it's not usable anymore. I've had it since it was released in 2006. If I see another one come up in the secondhand stores when I have the money spare I will definitely get one because I'm used to the old school workflow and I love it. The limitations don't matter to me. Using Reason or Maschine might be faster but it is more satisfying for me to use the 500 and get a sound that works when matched with old school classic productions.

@@RoomAtTheTopStudio thank you for your nice words and support! I definitely plan on releasing more 500 videos in the coming weeks 🙂. Your enjoyment of making a beat is just as important as the outcome and I find that to be true with this MPC. I hope you can pick up another one soon, I’m on my second 500 myself.

This is a great video. I like how well you covered the features of the 500. And express what you found as limitations and how you worked around it. Being an older producer myself, I’ve been working for years and that is literally how we function in the late 90s early 2000 you worked around the limitation. I considered purchasing one of these myself, but then opted to buy the 1000 to add a battery mod kit to it, giving me six hours of time with it. I covered it on my channel. And I have to say since coming out of the box and back into some of the older machines. I’ve really enjoyed the creative process again.

@@PetrolMediaInc I’ll be sure to check out your video on the 1000! I have one myself but it’s probably the MPC I’ve been using the least nowadays. It’s a pretty powerful machine and I enjoy the possibilities with the LFO section (2XL OS)!

@@PetrolMediaIncthere are some features in 3.16 that feel smoother than the 2XL. If you have made a lot of beats in that OS I would recommend you to not upgrade it since it doesn’t translate well to 2XL. It doesn’t recognize the pitch changes in the 16 level mode in my experience.

I wanted to like the SeqTrak but the sketchy build quality, lack of an onboard screen, tiny buttons, too many dual button presses, dependencies on a tablet or computer, and Yamaha’s way of limiting functionality just kills the product. It was a great idea ruined by poor execution. It seems to be a commercial failure.
@phillindablank23 күн бұрын
@@matthewgaines10 im not sure whether or not it is a commercial failure, but I definitely think that if it were to be released sooner it may have been better for Yamaha. I can see that there are a lot of quirks with the device that many can’t get past. However after spending a lot of time with it, I somewhat enjoy the hybrid workflow. But I don’t see myself fully finishing a beat without help from the app.
