XT60 connectors are cheap, often cheaper than SAE connectors and do not have the reversal thing you mentioned. Try those next time. They should be absolutely overkill for your circuit as they are rated to up to 60 amps.

Are you using the 500w inverter on the jackery? If not, you are basically charging it 5x and putting wearing and tear on the lithium cells on the Jackery. And if you are you are basically using the jackery as a very expensive 500w inverter. It's better to just keep the jackery as a backup and run a 1500w inverter off that giant battery.

I don't know where you are, but I am glad to see things relatively untouched. I am in the CSRA (Columbia County portion of the Augusta area /Central Savannah River Area). We were hit hard. There are still neighborhoods around me without electricity. Still, my prayers go out to those in NC. I have never seen a mountain flood. I didn't think it was possible.
@Vman13132 ай бұрын
@@barnpostmedia I'm near Commerce and VERY thankful we were relatively untouched. I didn't realize how hard Augusta and area got hit. My cousin is in that area and had a tree fall on their house and no electricity for quite some time. I guess all the attention has gone up to NC and lesser hit but still affected areas didn't get as much attention. So sorry to hear and hope all is well soon for y'all!

Apparently afraid to get wet/muddy. Always walk a bog / water crossing. That way you can tell holes, stumps, and how much traction. No mud terrain tires Didn't air down No lockers Went out alone Don't free spool after winding all the cable.

Should have puled out more cable to start with, would have saved you some work. Good job otherwise.
@MauroMarzorati2 ай бұрын
Did you have enough line and snatch block that you could've doubled up to halve the load on the winch? Also since you were pulling to the side and repositioned your anchor thrice maybe re-spool the line between pulls so that it is not bunched up on the corner and there again being nice to the winch motor. But what do I know I'm just a enthusiast myself. In the end, you got out without perment damage and that's all that counts in my book.
@Vman13132 ай бұрын
@@MauroMarzorati Great points that will help me and hopefully others in the future. I considered respooling but knew I was going to be making a couple of pulls because first 2 trees were TINY and didnt want to push my luck with each so as soon as I felt I had moved forward enough I reset. Thanks again for good points!
@randymoore24102 ай бұрын
Connect the winch controller cable to the winch before entering the area that you are concerned about. Also when off road have your recovery gear readily available. I do recommend replacing the steel winch cable with synthetic line as it is safer. Run the winch controller cable through the open window. Making use of left foot braking will help and airing down the tires as soon as you hit the dirt. Other comments below are also helpful. Let the winch do the work and try not to spin the tires. Keep winching until the vehicle can move forward without spinning the tires.
@Vman13132 ай бұрын
@@randymoore2410 Great points and something I will admit I am too lazy at is airing down. I actually have a synthetic line to put on but told myself I'd wait til I had to respool this one before replacing/installing. Thanks for good advice for me and others.
