This is a 1980s Nippon Sharyo and they will be retired in the next two months. This means that riders can’t get the advantage of having a cab car window view.

@@princessofthecape2078 I was riding in a “Gallery” car, which has a gangway separated from the cab of the car. This is why I’m able to get a view from the “front”(in the direction of travel), so yes, you could say I was standing on a backwards-facing train set.

Based on the 5/30/23 schedule, train 7166 departs Harvard at 12:35 and arrives into Chicago at 14:23, but only runs on Sundays and holidays.

In my opinion, it would be better for Metra to improve their schedule frequency and station development. Many lines and individual stations have been plagued with infrequent and slow service, so improvements to this and improving developments around stations should be done first before electrification.

Hi, thanks for your support! That a tough question because most of my experiences happened either before the channel was created, or just to film a ride. My favorite experience on Metra was probably just traveling to Chicago for a weekend or a day trip when I’m on break.

That would be amazing! I hope Metra will extend some lines to mid sized cities in the future. There is a plan to extend one of the lines to Rockford by 2027 and there are other proposals/studies for new extensions in the near future. We just have to wait and see what else is planned. :)
