My favorite moment was when they finally get to the rebel base and there are trees everywhere, and we were sitting there with actual trees, it felt so real!

What is impressive is that this show is from the same person responsible for the movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jon Watts. Someone told me that the planet the kids live on is in the galaxy's outer rim system and set simultaneously as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.

You mentioned the main character being an orphan as a "thing." But, in the SW universe I'm struggling to think of one who isn't. Think about it...
@hyperspaceprospector20 күн бұрын
Not an orphan - abandoned. Her mother trained her until it looks like she was a preteen, then said ok did my job good luck, byeeeee
@Xzelian20 күн бұрын
@@hyperspaceprospectorI mean sure, but abandonment prior to full adulthood is a means of orphaning. Not only is it the foundation of Jedi training, this is the way. My point was simply all S.W. characters tend to have parental separation for some reason or another. I think.... Is it maybe a Lucas thing?
@hyperspaceprospector19 күн бұрын
@@Xzelian It is rare to find a character in any form of somewhat dramatic action / adventure fiction with a happy family unit. It's one of the reasons The Mummy Returns really stands out as a film. Loving parents and a kid? Whaaaat!

I couldn't believe it when most of the (vocal) Internet labelled this episode as mere filler just because it didn't advance the First Order / Pirate / Doza plot. I guess running this episode right after last week's ending where Doza requests to review the first order's proposal is a bit of a strange choice. But I feel like it's an invaluable episode for getting to know Yeager more. Plus: more racing! Which, considering they live on a racetrack, we've not seen much of in the past few episodes.
@hyperspaceprospectorАй бұрын
I do not believe filler episodes exist - I have never seen one. I think it is a sort of label people come up with who only care about the plot, not the characters :)

I remember this being the episode that really got me hooked on the show. Obviously previous episodes had puzzle pieces and little bits of set-up but this one used all that and upped the stakes. Really fun watching your reactions and hearing your guesses for what's to come. Takes me back to watching the show week to week the first time around 😊

Lot of people online are hating on Vernestra right now, but she did what she had to do. She doesnt trust the senate, and the future will prove her right. She just want to protect the Jedi Order.
@hyperspaceprospector2 ай бұрын
I am not one of those people; she may not be in my top 5 High Republic favorites, but she is definitely in the top 20.
@Zhaggysfaction2 ай бұрын
You mean protect the Jedi order by not tellin that there is a serious threat to the lives of Jedi, the Jedi Order itself and the Republic itself, and maybe getting something done to that threat and SAVE the order by eliminating said threat? Is that what you mean by protecting it? So instead of saying "there was a former jedi turned bad that killed them" she says "a current Jedi snapped and killed them" That is literally the same thing and reguires the same actions from the senate as the senator earlier said. And the senate IS going to investigate ANYWAY.

Did you notice what Indarra said to Sol at the end? 'Do you want to kill her dream as well?' Now, remember what Qimir told to Mae at the end of the first episode? 'An acolyte kills the dream.' I feel like those very similar wordings are not just a coincidence.

They have stacked up quite a bit! There is the I am going to read them all - do it chronologically. Or Do it by type, eg YA or MG or adult. I like this method and would recommend the YA books to start, NOT Light of the Jedi. Eg follow Vernestra and Avon’s story.
