I bet every one of these folks would jump out of their skin at the sight of a black person.

Nice! Been looking for more sound samples of that bass. You should do a review of it. Anyway, great timing and intonation.

Byron holds the fiddle "wrong;" it's a lot easier if you don't allow the neck to rest on your hand. This shows that real musicianship is about a lot more than technique.

I live in New Orleans but born and raised in NYC. Married in 2008 to a Hurricane Katrina survivor who came up north in 2005 - looking for maritime work. We live in the French Quarter now (2024), where I am a textile artist. One of my earliest projects after I first arrived was restoring a Cajun themed quilt. What an honor to be able to use my lifetime of skills (I am now 76)...and bring back a bit of history from this amazing, unique culture. My dream will be to find the descendants of the woman who originally made this lovely quilt....Meantime....Aiiii---eeee!!!

Since posting my last (years-ago) comment, I came upon a discarded in the dumpster, Cajun themed quilt. I took this on as a restoration textile project. Now it hangs in my bedroom in a place of honor. What a privilege - I was able to use all the needlework skills of a lifetime (I am 76 now), to bring back such a beautiful piece of Cajun history...my dream will be someday to find the family it actually belongs to. And the descendants of the woman who made it!!

Music from this part of the world always seems so happy. If you're having a bad day, find some cajun music and I guarantee your day will get better or you won't care anymore!
