I dont know, id rather use oak, but they are all good. Besides, you can't test them like this, of course they sound different, because they come from different parts of the tree.

I wanna try em, but they don't make em in Nylon tip yet, Glad I saw this thorough review to find that out too. I was at GC goin thru their sticks & I just couldn't find a pair of em, now I know why lol. I been a VF player for yrs, but when I picked up a pair o the newer PM forward 5a's they won me over. I played PM only when I was a kid tho.. I'll prob switch between the two but for the most part Imma see if I can stick with the Pro-Marks, they just feel right

I owned the Firegrain 7a in the 80’s I think. Yes, I believe it’s a reintroduction. I liked the 7a a lot, felt stronger, nice rebound but back then as today, they are too short. Insanely short. Why couldn’t they just make the 7a longer? And you’re right, they should have nylon.

Your videos help me so much as a church drummer for a small church with no one to teach me directly. What a difference it makes being able to use resources like the ones you provided. They're still making a difference, even in 2020!

Thinking about getting a pair to try out. So far I have tried Vic firth, Vater, and Ahead drum sticks. Vic firth sticks had problems with the wood tip always denting or tearing apart. The vater sticks were a little bit better, but still had the same problems. So I got a couple pairs of ahead sticks and broke the 5B just after 3 months of playing one to two times per week. If promark are more durable I am will to give them a try. I just don’t know which ones I want to try. I like the fire ones and the Mike Portnoy active grips. I also subscribed to your channel. Love those tama drums!

On the floor tom the Firegrain did sound slightly lower than with the other sticks, for the high tom I didnt notice much difference, as for the cymbals the Firegrain made the cymbals sound darker which is nice if that's what you're going for. Overall if the Firegrain sticks last longer than their regular sticks or regular sticks from other companies I mught judt try them out. Kinda wanting to try some different sticks for my style of play than what I'm currently getting with Vic Firth sticks.
