I would guess the best hotel is Brisas Santa Lucia (so so hotel, but I guess all hotels in Cuba are so so). There is a kite school just north of Hotel Brisas Santa Lucia. If you look on Google Maps (satellite photo), its where the dirt road just north of the hotel resort reaches the ocean, pretty much halfway between Brisas Santa Lucia and Hotel ROC Santa Lucia. I personally did a self launch right off the beach at Brisas...

Depends on the winds, but anything from 9M to 15 goes. I was mostly on my 12. Thanks!

H! , thinking about moving to Florida ... can you tell me average wind / kite-size ? Best time for kiteboarding ? thx !
@SailRiders
@SailRiders 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Best time is from December through May. Avg size is 12M, but you will get may 7-10M days in winter. During the summer it's large kites (12=15) and possibly a foil board. Of course it also depends on where you will go in Florida. My stats are for the Tampa Bay area.... Thanks

Thanks! The trade wind season in St-Martin is between roughly december to july so you should get decent winds. Usually anything between 10-25 knots.

It's like most islands in the Caribbean, best times are February through June when the trades kick in. You will most likely get at least 4 days a week during that time. In the summer, winds are a little more unpredictable and there are often afternoon thunderstorms.

Thanks for this little teaser. We're chartering a sailboat this winter - but being abit on the wild side - and doing a hard sail down to George Town - then heading back to Nassau (we've got 2 weeks of sailing). Cannot WAIT - since we didn't get much chance to sail in our own boat this summer due to family probs. Hope we make as many good memories as you have here! Do you still charter every year? That's our plan until we bring our own sailboat from Canada to the Exumas.
