I've taken the Wolverine twice in 2020 and I remember hearing the conductor over the intercom to please be careful moving about as the train will reach up to 110 miles per hour. My GPS read 130! When the attendant stopped by my seat, I pointed out the 130 mph on my GPS and he stated that the 110 was just an estimate! That train flies I can tell you that. It was awesome and amazing, but a little scary for a 70yr old! Almost got a woodie! I've taken Amtrak from East to West and back again twice, and North to South six times. The Wolverine was the only train I had to travel business class as I usually have a room. The sleepers are the only way to travel! Be well everyone.

Great vid! I have taken this route a few times and have never heard a conductor spiel that informative. I wish it every trip was like that (or at least will be from now on). As for the ventures, I personally prefer the horizon car seats but i feel the venture seats aren’t too bad. I don’t think they’re too uncomfortable for trips that short in length. I love the design and accesibilty of the ventures and it will be nice to see a complete fleet in the future.

Thanks Jodan, I like the vibe the horizon cars give but I like how open the Ventures feel too. I know the Venture Cafes are rolling out on a lot of the Midwest routes, so full sets of Ventures aren't too far away on the Wolverine and Blue Water.

Awesome trip report! As someone who loves conductor announcements, I approve of you putting a transcription of them in the captions! As for the Venture seats, I find them perfect for trips of any length. I’ve taken 8-hour trips on the Lincoln Service Missouri River Runner between Jefferson City and Chicago and the seats are just fine for me.

Thanks! I know most people online tend to dislike the venture seats because they replaced the superliners on some routes, so they were used to long distance seats on regional routes and see the venture's thinner seats with less legroom as a downgrade.

My friend and I were 14 years old when we hopped on our first freight train ride through the “Deadman’s Tunnel” in Jersey City on Easter 🐣 Sunday in 1967! Also known as the Long Dock or Bergen Tunnel, it is 7/10 of a mile long. Fifty-seven people were killed and 32 others injured ⛑ during its construction in the mid-1850s! ⚰️ 🪦 ✝️ After exiting the Western Portal, we got off of the moving train and then returned 🏠home, trekking through the “Erie Cut.” Opened for passenger service in 1911, this 4-track corridor was built 🏗 to bypass the smoke and congestion of the 2-track Bergen Tunnel. Known as the “Bergen Arches,” this series of underpasses are located 60 Feet below street level. The cement work around the tunnel entrances was crafted by the Erie Railroad 🛤 and features the ⚒ Ornamental Art Deco 🖼 of the times. Train operations in the Cut ended in 1955 after the closing of the Erie Railroad 🛤 Passenger Terminal on the Jersey City Waterfront. The Dead 💀 Man’s Tunnel is still in operation as a freight line for the Norfolk & Southern.🚦 thank you 🎌
