my problem with this shelf is that it's not so useful. sure you have a lot of shelf space but it's all open. I have not seen one that was used to create a ton of extra storage. seems more like a display shelf for three lamps, two figurines, 4 vases, and a post modern sculpture or a milk carton.
@outside.influenced7 сағат бұрын
While I agree it’s all out in the open, I think it really depends on personal preference. I like it because I can display all my trinkets in a nicely laid-out space-but hey, that’s just me! 😊 Thank you for watching!

Try taking it to a welder, idk how much it’ll cost tho
@outside.influencedСағат бұрын
Some people have also suggested this! Might be worth looking into, though I’m hoping it wouldn’t cost more than the shelf itself. Thanks for watching and for the idea! 🫶
@MiracleMadkinsСағат бұрын
@ I don’t believe it should cost a lot since it’s just the small joints, shouldn’t take a lot of time either but I’m idk the rates where you live. You could also get the tools yourself and learn how to which is a small investment that could also provide quick fixes for other future problems. This is my first video of yours and I’m already liking the vibe. Looking forward to more!

After reading comments and watching both this video and your shelf video (suuper helpful by the way, I plan on getting a vintage one if I’m able) I agree that the sound effect volume could be turned down. And while I’m not the audience for the meme references (a few but not most) I think including them to some extent but maybe not as often as you did this round isn’t bad or wrong, especially if that’s your style & sense of humor, and how you want to differentiate yourself content-wise. Including them would come with the caveat that you wouldn’t please every viewer (and you never will), nor would every viewer be the perfect audience - and all of that is good and fine! I appreciate your videos so far, they’re fun and informative!
@outside.influenced6 сағат бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind and constructive feedback! 😊 I really appreciate you taking the time to watch both videos and share your thoughts. I’ll definitely work on balancing the sound effects and memes-I want to stay true to my style while making sure it’s enjoyable for as many people as possible. You’re right, I won’t please everyone, and that’s okay! I’m so glad you find the videos fun and helpful. Good luck finding that vintage shelf, and thanks again for the support! 🫶

Interesting! Love the vintage Ikea pieces. Maybe they could just issue new parts that leave a longer section poking through the hole and with a cap that can be screwed onto the end to secure it? There must be an easy workaround - huge waste of production if not. Stunning shelves and yes - get the chair, I wanna know how comfy they are 🙂
@outside.influenced7 сағат бұрын
Totally agree! Vintage IKEA pieces have such charm 😊 That’s actually a great suggestion-longer sections with screw-on caps could be a simple fix and save a lot of wasted production. Hopefully they consider a solution like that! And yes, I’m definitely tempted to get the chair now-I’ll report back on the comfort level! 😄 Thanks for watching and for your support!

I once had the ENETRI around 2006. But the boards couldn't hold the books I had. They start to deform just one summer. So I disposed the whole thing when I moved out of that place in 2008. For sure I didn't read the manual/document properly before using it and missed out on a great product.

IKEA definitely has to rework the metal supports. I have two very similar shelving system from a long defunct store that I bought over 15 years' ago. They were a bugger to assemble, but have remained rigid ever since and survived three moves.

If you do decide to keep the shelf, you could always use 2-part epoxy. Apply it from the inside of the shelf, just before the end/tip of the rod, then slide it through to it's hole, then do the other part of the rod. Just wipe the contacting metal bits first if they feel a bit greasy, before applying the epoxy.
@outside.influencedКүн бұрын
That sounds like a fun project! I might try that out if I have some time, thanks for the tips and thank you for watching!!
@chefskiss6179Күн бұрын
@@outside.influenced It's sometimes considered as good as an actual metal weld. If all you need is for the jostling to stop so it doesn't fall away from its holding, then epoxy is the best solution. It'll last between 10-20 years.

Well you sould not be surprised by cheap quality at IKEA 🤣 also , people should stop marketing and promoting IKEA products. Please rather spend time researching the IKEA production standards and the environmental impact this Global Fast Furniture Giant has on our planet!
@outside.influencedКүн бұрын
Totally get where you’re coming from! IKEA’s affordability does come with trade-offs, and it’s definitely worth thinking about the environmental impact of fast furniture. I’ll keep that in mind and appreciate you for watching and sharing your perspective!
@neltymindКүн бұрын
Ikea is basically the equivalent of fast fashion in furniture. It's produced as cheaply as possible. Don't buy their crap.
@TobiasMoesКүн бұрын
While I somewhat agree, not everything from IKEA is crap and some of their furniture can last a long time. I also think that more expensive furniture is not as affordable to a lot of people as well made clothing. IKEA does sell a lot of crap though and second hand is the best option imo.

Find a friend that welds and ask them to weld it
@outside.influencedКүн бұрын
Not a bad idea! 😂 But even if I did have a friend who welds, I’m not sure it’s worth the effort for a shelf that should’ve been sturdy to begin with. IKEA really made this one a challenge!

I'm crying because what is IKEA doing with the old designs? I mean this JÄRPEN Chair from 1983 looks so much better then the re-release one from today. (03:15) not just because it has a padding included, but also the color combination and the design details like the way the legs are formed. It really is the details that make this original piece a great design and why the re-released version looks cheap and boring. this is really sad somehow...
@outside.influencedКүн бұрын
I totally feel you on this! 😢 The original JÄRPEN had so much character. It’s frustrating to see how some of these re-releases miss the mark, stripping away what made them special. I wish IKEA would stay true to the original charm-it really is the little details that matter. Thanks for sharing this and for watching!

I ordered this item twice, and both times it was refunded with no clear reason. I reached out to customer support, but they didn’t provide an explanation. I also asked when and in which store it would be available again, but they kept changing the information. It's really frustrating! So I'm not sure when I'm able to buy it. I would weld the pieces together myself if that would fix the wobble.
@outside.influencedСағат бұрын
Wow, that sounds super frustrating! 😞 It’s disappointing when you don’t get clear answers from customer support, especially after multiple orders. Welding could be a solution, but it’s definitely a lot of effort for something that should be sturdy out of the box. I really hope they sort this out soon and make it available properly. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience! 🫶
