I always wonder what became of those featured in the videos! I presume most will have passed now 30 years on, but I hope they enjoyed many more years of bowling after this video.

I know this is an old video but i found it’s been really helpful to try to find what works for me. I am a very new bowler. I’ve been able to try out different grips and stances and feel more confident about it all.

My ambition is to eventually be financially secure enough to just be able to go to the bowling hall and simply bowl. That's it. Seems a good life!

At 26.30 when Margaret plays the weight shot to leave her 3 up, her delivery did not change just the amount of weight in her swing. Great player.

Corsie’s bowls delivery is lovely. Shame there are not more matches (any) of his matches on KZbin to enjoy.

With me being new to the game and waited for my membership being excepted, I went and watched many bowlers and noticed they all went for the long jack, why is this as I never seen anyone throwing a shorter jack?

alan carlyon I’ve played the game, bowlers are too lazy to kick the woods back. Enjoy the game.

Am new to the game and am looking up all lawn bowling tuitions. My question is - what IS the average bias? What is minimum bias and what is maximum, knowing these figures would help me and many others tuning in to this tuition video! Many thanks! Great tuition by the way!

Hi, I have not joined a club yet and I have only had one tuition lesson in how to play bowls I thought I would check video's first in how to hold the bowl and how the rules were told Watching Tony play two ends with his guest I noticed his guest kept moving the matt with his foot now and then before playing his bowl, my question is - Is this allowed as I do not know?
@TheSingleNotice
@TheSingleNotice 3 жыл бұрын
You can't move the mat forward of backwards once it has been placed But you are allowed to adjust it slightly left to right so it is aligned centrally

There are a few factors in bowls basics. One resource I found which succeeds in merging these is the Berts bowls guide (google it if you're interested) without a doubt the no.1 blueprint that I have ever heard of. Check out all the amazing information.

Yes, this needs to be updated. Information for indoor and Flat green bowls is significantly different than it is for the proper game of Crown Green Bowls. When you have a crown or a mound in the centre of the green to contend with it throws a whole new perspective on the game. The two main manufacturers are 'Taylor' and 'Drakes Pride', both of which are excellent bowls. As a novice I can only pass on what I have heard from experienced players and their views appears to be the former for a strong bias and the latter for following the jack. Good advice Tony gives is go along to a club where they will allow you to try out different sizes before you find one that is comfortable for you. Back in the day of the making of this video the sizes were determined in 5s, 4s, 3s, etc. Nowadays we're more familiar with 2.4s at the light end, generally the ladies choice, up to 2.10s at the heavy end.

Rather obnoxious of you to suggest indoor and flat green are not "proper games" . Enjoy your game of choice and try to be less judgemental on other people's choices
