I was there around the same time as you! Got a suite for around $700 Aud a night then, now the same rooms going for over double that....): I don't usually do expensive hotels, as with airbnb or booking you can get a much better deal (and nicer place, usually) but the Conrad was truly impressive, and i'm glad i've stayed there! Sipping on cocktails in that stunning bar area and staring out the window while a pianist was playing, that memory lives rent free in my head!
