No it's not dying, it's just getting more geared for collectors thats why we have boutique lables like shout factory, arrow video, the criterion collection, etc..... they are keeping it alive man, with new boutique labels popping up occasionally like radiance studios that started in late 2022 that make these really nice forign blu rays of lesser known international movies, so you got like your German and Swedish movies, though most of the releases seem to be old Japanese movies which I saw the trailers for and man they are really good. Plus sonys whole thing is media so that whole thing with like LG discontinuing their Blu Ray players and stuff.... Like bro someone will take it's place it's not that big of a deal.

Onkyo's "quality" was in the DUMP even before the advent of HDMI equipped units being available! I have 2 Onkyo units (a TX-SR703 and an HT-R540) and they BOTH suffered from the INFAMOUS FAILURE of the DSP Chips, which were not properly soldered to the main board. These issues/failures are all over the 'net, and Onkyo "Washing their Hands" of these failures are equally infamous! (Which probably accounts for Onkyo going "Belly Up" and having to file for bankruptcy!) I'm sure there were probably a few good Yugo's out there, but for the remaining 98+% of us who had the misfortune of shelling out major $$$'s for these BIG-BUCKS BOAT ANCHORS, all we can do is WARN OTHERS to AVOID these TICKING TIME BOMBS!!

I just purchased this receiver to upgrade from my old Denon AVR-590 that I purchased for dirt cheap 6 years ago used, and that still works great. After setting it up, I was not impressed at all. As a matter of fact, my Denon sounds better. At the moment, I only have a 5.1 speaker setup, so the extra channels are useless. I also do not need all the extra music streaming and Bluetooth features in my dedicated TV room. I have other rooms dedicated to listening to music. My 1970s pioneer setup in my basement bar puts Onkyo to shame for music. I will be taking it back to Best Buy in the morning and switching back to the Denon. I will spend the money to upgrade my speakers and sub. Eventually, I will probably get another high-end Denon with more channels. This video has convinced me of my decision.

I’ve had my TXNR 656 for six years. No issues. Dunno. I think there’s issues with all brands now, potentially. Things are made on the cheap now, on average. But I can’t say there’s been any major issues with mine. I’m actually going to sell it, as I just bought a TXNR 6050. That’s the Costco one from last year in the US only. Haven’t set it up yet - fingers crossed. But yeah, no problems with Onkyo and for the price, sound quality, features, you can’t go wrong. For a Denon in the same price, the Onkyo sounds better and has more features. Maybe if you’re spending $2000.00 I’d go Marantz, but Onkyo has the RZ70, which is likely a better choice.

Hello, i only just say this video on 10/01/2024 and i know this video is a year old, so i do not know if you fixed it or moved on but here are a few points for you to consider. Firstly, the message during the initial setup that says "check your subwoofer" is just a reminder for you to check if sound is coming from the subwoofer and not that something is wrong with it. Secondly, when doing calibration, the default volume is 40 and not 55. Always do a calibration at the default volume. Thirdly, you need to press CBL.SAT then ON/Standby to reset the receiver not enter. This is in your manual. These Onkyo receivers has a hidden service menu that does different things that is triggered by button combinations on the front panel, so always make sure you follow the manual. Fourthly, you said nothing about how you connected your speakers, either banana plugs or bare wire, in either case there can be a grounding issue where the receiver won't produce sound but normally enables a "CK SPEAKER WIRE" message.
@moubear32 Жыл бұрын
Ok. So this is a receiver/amplifier that was broken out of the box. If you really truly listened to my video you heard me say at the time that I'd been doing it for " 18 years " not days, so this wasn't my first receiver installation. Also, no matter what you have the volume set to a broken receiver is a broken receiver, no way to get around that. And the Coup de grace of this answer, Onkyo also acknowledged that this particular unit was faulty as well thus confirming many of the reviews done on this receiver/amplifier unit. As for the wire, good old fashioned speaker wire. Thanks for watching have a nice day.

I picked up one from Facebook marketplace for a $100. It’s really good so far. I use it every night. Onkyo with klipsch sounds really good! Previous owner stated there is a problem with some of the hdmi ports. Not sure which ones. But I have my tv and Apple TV connected with no problems.

I just bought the newer version NR6100 and had issues during room calibration (AccuEQ). When the calibration comes to left surround speaker it immediately shuts off the whole receiver. During speaker set up test all speakers gives sounds and receiver stays on all the time. I assume that wiring is OK as it worked with previous receiver. I should also mention problems with eARC set up. I fixed it by pulling HDMI cable out from TV, plug it to different HDMI slots and back to eARC slot again. Then running set up again.

Mine is 4 years old and gets heavy use as it is used for everything. The trick is to a USB fan on top of the amp to make sure cooling is sufficient (especially here in Australia). My previous Denon lasted 3 years before it died.
