I've used this method in the past as well! It's not just really great for if you're the vocalist, but also if you're another band member and you have a melody (and maybe also lyrics) in mind that you want for a certain section.

It's always funny when what I would regard "major league" or professional musicians, definitely accomplished, do the same things I do. I guess that makes me semi-pro, lol, but seriously it blows my mind how alike so many of us are.

Second comment: This album was before its time for sure. It unlocked so many weird sound spaces in my head as a musician and has/does influence(d) me. Thank you guys for just doing it. It still has that replay value because it's so fresh and ahead. I do find it funny that you guys got Barretto to finalize the initial lineup and also hadn't heard Periphery, I mean his pedigree lol. Still don’t get why Chris wasn’t the vocalist for the new album but he’s still involved with the band somehow
@Hiei999Ай бұрын
There are theories. The most likely is, that Chris isn't interested or motivated to be a frontman anymore. Started back when he was with Monuments, a little after (maybe a few years) The Amanuensis dropped, Monuments were touring like crazy, and right before they headed out for an NA tour, we noticed Chris wasn't on stage in videos. The band and Chris never really addressed it. After that lots of fans feel like he phoned in his next release with Monuments. I would agree that it seemed like Chris didn't have that fire for writing anymore, or at least for what he was hearing at that time. No real answer, until the man addresses it himself. It's probably really mundane like he wants to be a regular guy and not a super popular performer anymore. There was one dude on Reddit who swears (he did post a picture of Chris mid-conversation at a family dining table) that he was in a serious relationship with his sister. Outside of the picture he didn't want to speak about his business.

His vocal range on monuments song "I, the destroyer" is still beautiful to me. I agree, really wish he was doing something even if it was just being a studio/session vocalist
@GruntiiАй бұрын
@ThePurestMayhem the chris era of monuments is that of legend I swear. Phronesis doesn't get spoken about as much as it should. Amenuensis was dope in a different way. Like phro was deep and personal. Amen was just fucking heavy lol 😆

@@EverForthright So what could be an alternative explanation for how Ever Forthright is apparently more popular than ever before, despite being dormant for over a decade?
@EverForthrightАй бұрын
@@divinasi0n We think of the same thing too, and all we have is a guess/theory. From looking at analytics, our audience has doubled every year we were dormant (according to Spotify). Being dormant for 10+ years, we realized that the landscape of how music gets seen and heard is different. So this time around, we hired marketing and content consultants, including consultations from larger bands in the industry, to fill us in on what has changed and how things like KZbin, TikTok, and IG work these days. The old stuff we just dropped on a whim and didn’t promote-that worked back in the day but is a bit different now. Things like promoted videos are somewhat necessary in this position to get in front of people’s faces to let them know we’re back. That works well for someone in our position since we don’t have high algorithm power due to being dormant. The term "golden age" could be interpreted a few ways, but I’d say it refers to the early days when this sound was still emerging. These days the audience is much, much larger for sure, but it’s all about reaching them. Also, this era seems to be quite a bit about entertainment value. This video is so dumb and fun to watch, lmao. Also, this album has already sold much better than the last one (but yes, we’re still in hellaaaa debt). It could mean that it’s more "listenable" to a broader audience. Regarding view-to-comment ratio, we talk about this a bunch and realize there really isn’t much of a direct correlation when we compare lots of things, including side projects and friends' music. We try not to get too wrapped up in it all and just take it as it comes, but yeah, of course, theorizing it is fun. We'll never quite know, though. We're just in it for the fun since it's just a hobby and not a career. Hope that all makes sense.
