Regarding the lack of a voltage protection circuit, has anyone wired in a voltmeter display? I figure it'd be straightforward like vehicle battery circuits but may as well ask if anyones wired a meter in for those neurotic about killing a battery

There is one bit of drama in that if you use the vacuum for long enough you will discharge the LI batteries below the point of no return and brick your batteries. The circuit board in the Dyson battery is there to disconnect the motor get discharged too far.

For V6, V7 and V8, you can try to buy an adapter. I have one for DeWalt to V8, but I have seen others as well.

Looks like there is space in there for a small relay, it would have been a better option, a micro switch with a relay.

How long this 1.5A switch will last?
@jasonborne16812 жыл бұрын
I did the exact same thing but I used 24v max Kobalt batteries so my dyson would receive the correct voltage and run more efficiently. Kobalt batteries are also cheaper than Milwaukee and still use top quality Samsung cells inside.

If you make these retrofit kits for sale, please let me know so I can purchase. My whole garage is all Milwaukee so this would be icing on the cake with my Dyson vacuum!

giong to be weak. I think milwaukee packs are 5 cells in series. the Dysons are at least six cells, the high end ones are seven. I have cheap Chinese vac where I simply paralleled another six cell pack to the positive negative terminals. It is now way heavier but it is quick easy hack and battery life stupid long.

Great job. Someone with a 3d printer can make and sell adaptors for this application.

would be even more kickass if someone made a .stl file so we could 3d print a whole new lower section.

Bareinmind that 5A battery is weaker than Dysons, an 8 or even 12A would be ideal but a little bulky.

what about the auto voltage shut off. on milwaukee it in the tool not the battery?

I cannot see. The point. In destroying $500. Dyson. When replacement batteries. Are available on Amazon for $15, $20. Say goodbye to your warranty!

He made no changes to the vacuum, only hacked the battery, he can replace it with a Dyson or pirate battery any time he wants.

I would recommend some flux next time. If it ever breaks, use some next time it’s super cheap Your solder joints looked a bit weak The flux would help suck the solder in
