I can't help but to think of the scripture that says" let no man teach you but the Spirit will teach you all things concerning God". Lead people to Christ and let HIM lead and teach on a personal level. After all, He is Creator and knows exactly how to lead people in their God given cultures. Richard is no longer struggling with this dilemma as he now face to face with the One who oh so loved him just as He created him. A beautiful native ... Can't wait for heaven❤🕊

ederoin Otoe gramdmother/cultural carrier Traditional ways are a way of life, live it everyday. All across the country, Native Men/Women/Children who have had alcohol/drug addiction, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect issues. Look for ways to stop the pain of trauma felt as a child or young adult. You may think "Christianity" is a way to go......When in fact "Christianity" continues colonialize and cause more harm to indigenous peoples way of life. If I could, I would remove all churches from the reservations so that Christian rhetoric cannot be heard by our children. Christianity can not wipe away its SINS the murder of ancestors and taking of stolen land. You can continue Proselytizing, and I will continue to teach traditional ways, remember we are still here !

Difficult to hear support for Christianity authorized by God to kill all non-believing "men, women, children, and nursing infants"----which was deployed by Christians across Turtle Island. Adhering to the ideology of synchronization/compatibility of Christianity & Native Spiritual traditions is very troublesome & avoids hundreds of thousands of ancestors murdered in the name of Jesus, who supposedly had the power/ability to show up to stop it, but was/is still MIA----this reality still fleshes out as shame & unworthy of all the excusing rhetoric---just saying & speaking up for would-be ancestors & survivors. Aho

When tibet wanted to transmit buddhism from India they made sure they translated each and every term and custom into a tibetan one so that the people who were of the bon tribe didn't have to change who they were but they just had to learn about the new philosophy. I think it would be a good idea to translate the entire bible into lakota and nativize it (white people did the same thing and angolosized it. Names for God like Yahweh where translated to Jehovah and Yeshua to Jesus. Yohan and Matisyahu where changed to John and Matthew.) I say change all the names and terms to Native names. Contextualize the teachings of christ into the culture that is trying to meet him.

@Bach, is it because he's a Christian that he's not a "real" native that it sounds like your trying to imply?
@calebh913011 жыл бұрын
By realizing that it was not His will or plan that this happened, people are given a choice on how to live/behave , we are not robots, we are wretched sinners and what happened did not reflect His love for all people, including the Native Americans. There are many Native followers of Jesus today! Chuu!

Your uncle profoundly touched my life and helped me find reconciliation with my path, my cultural identity, and my faith. He was confirmation for my life journey and helped me in my evolution from traditional spiritual to Christ. He helped me when I was in lockup. Before I could make trip to see him in person he went to be with our Creator Tsisas. He is missed. I love your uncle and pray many blessings upon you & your family. aho.

This brother is 'not' standing in one canoe trying to go two ways...He not mixing shamanism with Christianity. As Roman Catholics mixed paganism with Christ...He just saying that we can follow Christ and worship Him as Creator He is with our own songs, dances, instruments, cultural clothing & hairstyle, and don't have to adopt a Euro-cultural expression to follow the Gospel...That is all he propagates & nothing else. He is the Truth and he is missed. aho.

@meaniee94 My opinion about your statement is. You cant keep yourself from being saved, because of anothers mistakes. It doesn't change the truth. Even now days people receive the Lord and mess up or backslide, or maybe those guys who killed all the Natives were wolves in sheeps clothing. (not justifying what they did.) There is only one name that man shall be saved and that is Jesus. Those guys who killed all the natives will be judged accordingly by God, and so will we. God Bless

How does Jesus become relevant to an entire people group whose historical memories are filled with pain and suffering which has been done in the name of the savior?

Meaniee94; Answer---The same way Nazism & Hitler should be promoted as a valid religion & savior for today's surviving Jewish people! Of course, some laugh at that rediculousness---after all, Jewish children were not incarcerated in Nazi boarding schools named after glorified Nazi leaders like Hitler & Gourbel (sp?), as were generations of Natives in schools named for Christian generals who had killed Natives. True recognition for Christian dogma supporting Native genocide & suppression of Native spiritual traditions renders a ludicrous attempt irrelevant synchronicity---for honest comparison of Christianity with the basic/universal Native spirituality render major conflicts. If the conflicts were not major, then why were children abducted, confined, and beaten to accept "the blessings of Jesus"???? Of course, this was in conjunction with Christian missionaries bribing corralled & hungry reservation folks with the quid-pro-quo of Church soup & blankets for baptism! So much for "separation of church & state"!!! Again, why was all this deployed IF Christianity was so simpatico with Native spirituality?---- Because it wasn't & isn't----it was & is a threat to the many true Native spiritual ways, and hence, we witness these latter-day popular revised efforts to make Christianity palatable after generations as force-fed ingestion contributing to the highest percentages per capita of alcoholism/substance abuse, suicide, domestic violence, unemployment & poverty----i.e. it appears Christian acculturation isn't working well for Natives. These pro-Christian programs generally are akin to preaching to the sympathetic avoidance of Christianity's racism. "Mitakuyee Oasin" (All our relations---- unfortunately sometimes).

i know this is years later, but i have a couple thoughts about your question. The way that Christianity was often brought as a tool to colonize us Indins does not reflect the true life and teachings of Jesus Christ and the Bible. The reality is Jesus was not a white man from a European mindset, but rather a tribal man from a people whose culture was very similar to that of Native North and South America. I fully believe that He is the Creator and He loved all human beings and all of His creation so much that He became a part of it and walked in a good and perfect way to be an example. He then gave up His life in the physical sense and became victorious over death by rising from the dead, in order to restore all creation into a harmonious relationship with Himself and with each other. My point is to follow Christianity in the colonial interpretation makes absolutely no sense for a Native. However, Jesus Christ is not the colonial slave master that came to North America and caused so many atrocious things to this land. The real Jesus says come to me how you are and I will perfect you while at the same time making you to be how I intended. If He wanted us to become white then He would have created us white. If He wanted us to give up our culture in its entrirety, then He would not have created us as members of that culture in the first place. Anyways, if you ever do read this I hope this helps, and may Creator bless you and guide you on your own spiritual journey to walk in a good way.

What is being done to help the lakotah people living in the poorest conditions in the U.S.. This should not be a people proud and true. The jokes should best be left to government officials unwilling to help The Lakotah people out of their terrible living conditions, instead they bail out banks and home owners who irresponsibly squandered money...
