I'm thirty something and I've sunk so many many hours into LoL until one day I decided to just stop almost randomly. There times were I nibbled back in but I was dusty as heck and now I'm a WoW classic junky and now that I'm just raid logging I've become a Nintendo animal crossing/retro pokemon game junkie randomly. I have 800 games in my steam library from being a humble bundle member and using wish list to grab games at least 66% off and I've played like 50 of them. And my PC is pretty powerful and is rarely used to its potential. This game hooking is pretty normal behavior to a point though but yes activision and even nintendo throw in daily hooks into their games... Even if I were to put 1 hr into each steam game without sleeping it would take over 1 month to complete.

in general you get it wrong, decades ago it was simpler writing games, despite less reusable code, and having to use primitive (assembly language), compare what GTA V does in its game workd with super mario to get an idea maybe. Super Mario bros Was develuped in under a year, not 3.
@kangarhtАй бұрын
also it was not really needed to reuse shit from earlier games, these were extremely simple games, coded by a few people in a few weeks months at max (talking about atari 2600 and or 8 bit computers). Today it takes hundreds ppl and years.
@kangarhtАй бұрын
assembly language is only not normal coding language for you, but I grew up with it, and we called assembly language CODING, and anything higher level was PROGRAMMING. "true software based coding languages" wtf :D its programming, and assembly is coding. Also these old machines were several magnitudes of levels SIMPLER than todays hardware VERY SIMPLE machines, so CODING them in assembly language isnt really more complicated than doing mildly complicated stuff in java/python/c++ whatever, after you have learned the hardware. (not much to learn SIMPLE)

I’m 35 YO. I use to love COD and Halo when I was younger. Now I can’t enjoy PVP Multiplayer. It’s stressful to me now for some reason. When I play it’s either coop only or single player. Times change. Being an adult can be rough. I was peace not stress.

Hey man, I saw your comment on another video saying that you liked steam Ace of Spades battle builder. I am making a remake and it is basically complete and no critical bugs. There is right now capture the flag and zombie gamemodes. Tomorrow we are going to have a playtest. I have videos about the project on my channel.

Dude! You're saying these people are tryjng to create "light" in the video game world? If that technology is achieved and the perfect version of it is a virtual world where everything can he how you code it to be. In other words, you "name" it. And it would look the same and behave the same as real life? Are we trying to become God? Dang... I might have smoked too much.

Issue with gRaPhiX is due to gayming journalists constantly harping about them, therefore developers/publishers respond and end users get cut out of the discussion. Same way that automobile journalists are constantly talking about handling prowess and things driving "like they're on rails," so we get 500 horsepower SUVs that handle better than sports cars from 20 or 30 years ago. Doesn't matter that in either case most people are playing not the most gorgeous game and all that cornering ability is worthless because you're sitting in traffic trying.

Let me tell you something do you love your job ? we're bored of video games because video games aren't fun anymore , Devs of big companies don't bring nothing new to the table. When i was at school i had little time to play and my parents always hid my playstation from me. I'll tell you games are boring , cool graphics huge open world and bad story or bad RPG features or something else easy missions/quests. modern games difficulty definition is increasing enemy damage/lower player damage or just show you where to move where to look and what to think ! In old games like morrowind and oblivion , you had sometimes to go back to your journal and remember what the NPCs told you and try to figure it out and use your fckin braiiiin DUH. Games used to make people smarter now the opposite. There's online games now which are made to milk money from gamers. But there's still hope yes there is there are some Indie dev studios who make for us games like Squad , Hell let loose and there's still more Age of empires games and more RTS games are coming. and yes there's still hope with Japanese video games. In the end F EA , Ubisoft, Activision especially these ones i wouldn't buy their games.

The issue i see in most contemporary games and why i have jumped off of that wagon, so to speak, is that most of them are completely ditching the artistic aspects of aesthetics necessary for something to look even mildly impressive for this 'as realistic as possible' approach, wich makes them look all too similar to each other, in other words, having absolutely zero character, most contemporary games don't look better than for example those of the 6th and 7th gen, they only look more naturalistic but i'd say they look far worse, due to, for example, technologies like motion capture and 3d scanning being abused so much that a lot of the 3d modelling and motion are no longer done by artists anymore or due to the obssesion with photorealism, ditching a more artistic interpretation approach to charachters and enviroments, the obsession with cinematography and being as cinematic as possible among many other issues that plague game development currently, a good analogy for comparing the aforementioned 6th/7th gen games to contemporary ones would be a random picture of a mountain compared to Fan Kuan's 'travellers amongst mountains and streams', of course, the picture will be more faithful to reality, no question about that, but i think most, me included, would prefer the masterwork, simply due to a good artistic interpretation of reality often being much more interesting and attractive than a mostly faithful, yet lackluster representation.

I have to disagree with their being a limit to videogame graphics. With time something better always comes along just like a faster sprinter will always be born eventually, just like a better shooter than Steph Curry will be born eventually. There’s no ceiling to this stuff until the world ends of course.

Polish is the most important. Everything else is irrelevant without polish. If a game can't function it does not matter how good the story,music,graphics or gameplay is.

I remember very well as it was happening. Ben Aksoy promised us (longtime players, fans etc.) machine gun sentries, mortars, openGL, he even made a couple of trailers on youtube about click n drag building and many other things. And then he just went and sold the game to Jagex. I was so sad and disappointed for such a long time. My PC couldn't run the Jagex crappy version ever plus I was a kid and therefore couldn't buy a steam game.

Graphics are peaking for many reasons, the largest being cost and hardware maturity but I do see a future jump on the horizon The jumps we saw in the past I think are just that in the past as I don't see a leap like PS1 to PS2 or 2 to 3 again we are literally nearing the limit of current silica based computer technology in 2000 the die size was about 200nm now current production is 3nm and 2nm is expected to start a couple years and and at these ridiculous scales physics has started causing problems and the law of diminishing returns is starting to show......BUT One area I see that could be the next big advancement and already has shown some quite impressive results is...... lighting, I thought since PS4 that's the next big advancement will be lighting as it can dramatically change how a game looks, just look at Minecraft, a game that looks like it's from the 90's yet add ray traced lighting and it instantly transforms the game makes like looks or ders of magnitude better yet The actual graphical fidelity wasn't changed Unreal Engine 5 from the start pushed things like lumen and it really does make a difference in the presentation In the end I see lighting as the next big advancement yes games will look better but lighting will improve quite a bit as tech like ray tracing becomes more possible how we get there from AI to dedicated hardware is a question that will be interesting to see what happens

I have a rule for playing games with my daughter, I will play any game she wants (usually she wants Roblox😊) but if it starts to get either her or I like mad or angry for to long or to often then we have to switch. I have been playing games for to long to get tricked into spending my free time with my daughter getting mad or unhappy (find the marker😅) there are plenty of games that are fun and mixing it up is best practice anyway

I think the breakthrough is gonna be AI creating 9/10 frames so quickly it allows for realtime next level graphics tied with ray tracing it will be insane also love your content
