@megandarling2215 I preserved those too 😆 just have to soak the pins and washers in wd40 to loosen up the rust and dirt and carefully remove them with needle nose pliers then scrub with soap and water and let it air dry and place back in, never place them in Oxalic acid, the metal is too thin and the acid will weaken the metal or aluminum even more

Non provo pietà. Non posso. I tedeschi ,durante la seconda guerra mondiale hanno ucciso mio zio che allora aveva diciannove anni. La guerra era praticamente finita . Non c era ragione di uccidere. Mio zio è rimasto per sempre lì,sull'isola della Maddalena in Sardegna,vittima di una granata fatta esplodere mentre mio zio insieme ad altri marinai erano in un fortino ad eseguire ordini di ispezione. No proprio nessuna pietà!

Para mí tiene dos disparos de grueso calibre,tipo .50 o algo así,y uno de ellos,el segundo,es de abajo hacia arriba,es decir,nunca atravesó el casco salvo a la salida,y el primero es de adelante hacia atrás,pobre soldadito.

For preservation you don't need to take the liner out of it...just an oxalic bath and done...never take a helmet apart...

Depending on the damage of the helmet i will leave the liner in but If the leather still remains I wouldn't recommend putting it in the oxalic acid you can potentially destroy/"bleach" the leather and any possible names on the leather. Early Aluminum liners with no leather will be fine but the later steel made liners are thin and rusted and if you leave the helmet in the acid long enough it will eat away at the liner and possibly break it apart.
