I alternate between the improved clinch and the Palomar knot. Great video! The second method that you used to tie the clinch is how I do it as well. Will never go back to twisting the hook again. Do it once with 2lb flouro and a small hook like #8 and you'll never want to do it again. Lol Great video. Thank you

I still use my thumb and I've been baitcasting for close to 30 years. Nice Shimano though.

Very strong , easy to learn fishing knot. This knot is so strong that your main line will break before this knot will fail!

@01:50 Congratulations sir, you're perhaps the first I've seen to point out that pinching the doubled over line before pushing it through is a bad idea !

Great vid and good explanation. I have used this know since I began fishing and just recently stopped. Even when you tie a perfect knot and pull the main line, if you pull hard enough it will completely undo. The tag end goes all the way through the knot. I've even caught a tag end of 2ft and it still does that. I've switched knots now

Why wouldn't you use the improved clinch knot instead of this one?

its a good easy knot to use but if going big fishing then put an extra knot on top just to be safe

Hi Mathew... Sounds like you may not be making enough twists for the diameter line you are using, or you are not cinching the line down completely. What pound test line were you using?

I swear I followed these instructions to a tee and lost 2 lures from casting. :\

Doesn't sound right... something must have went wrong when you were tying the knot. Hard to say what went wrong without seeing the process. Have you tried tying a clinch knot? kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHjPfmeDm9l7h8k

When I tighten it at the end, I still have a leftover loop of string hanging out. Am I tightening it wrong?
@Bassinusa7 жыл бұрын
Turd... It sounds like you might be. The tag end of the line can be gently pulled if that ever happens and it should complete the knot. Just be sure to wet the line always first.

It is a good knot but the loop is a pain top pass over with a large jerk bait or crank bait with big treble hooks while on the water

is this knot good for 20lb fluorocarbon?
@Bassinusa7 жыл бұрын
Depends on the size of the hook eye. I just use a Clinch or Snell on heavy line... never have any problems with lines 12# and above.

what if the hook eye is not large enough to let the knot go inside it ?
@Bassinusa7 жыл бұрын
I haven't had that issue, however if you do, I would skip that step of thee process. It's mainly when your using really light fluorocarbon line (like 6lb or less)

Hi G T ... I use left hand retrieve on all my reels (baitcasting and spinning)... never understood why anyone would want to switch hands after casting. Just a preference of mine... in the end its what ever works, right?

do you have to have cell phone service cause the lakes I fish my phone really don't get good cell service
@Bassinusa8 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, you do not need cell service to record weights onto the app. It connects via bluetooth. The only issue would be if you wanted to share your catch on social media or capturing the GPS location if you don't have service. Hope that helps...
