Show us the hull design?

OK. Let us reconnoiter. A year has passed with this video published. Let us see the bottom of the hull displayed and explained and see how sales improve.

Effective marketers always emphasize a displaying of the bottom and sides of the hull and the features and benefits for the boater. This trait comes with seasoning and experience in making presentations and with the helpful feedback of seasoned boaters.

Thanks for your video. I have a quick question. I make myself a "kneeling bar" for my Old town because in France you can't find this kind of article: What is the angle of inclination of the seat? Perhaps more simply, what is the jig of the bracket / what are the dimensions of the knee bar bracket? Thank you very much in advance for your valuable information. Stephane

Good video. Just my opinion, but for first-timers, I think it's worth pointing out the danger of cutting the thwart too short - as did I the first time I did it. IMO, it's better to cut the thwart OVERSIZE to begin with. Do this by placing the thwart a few inches closer to the yoke/centre than the holes for the hangers and cut it to the angle of the gunwales. Use a straight edge, parallel to the outer edge of the gunwales, to mark where to cut (this is going to be too big). Then offer the thwart up to the hangers (inside the hull) and trim as required - make the thwart wide enough so that it's just shy of a tight fit against the sides of the hull. This will make the thwart about 1cm oversized each side, compared to the hangers. But the holes in the thwart are now further from the edge of the thwart - and so the connection is stronger. Always best to start with the thwart too wide - and have to cut a couple of times - than risk making it a tad too small in the first place. Also, start with the hangers long and only trim back once you've found a height for the thwart that feels right. I like the underside of my thwart to be about 8 1/2" above the hull at the centre, for size 9's. Trimming the hangers is trial and error, but as with all things 'wood', best to err on the long side then trim back, than end up with a too-high kneeling thwart and high centre of gravity. Hope that helps someone doing this for the first time.

This is great! I have to swap some gunwales this spring on a similar type of TPE canoe and have been wondering about best approach. I noticed your not concerned about using existing holes in canoe to mount gunwales...drilling more holes won’t impact canoe integrity?
@bs_life_experience2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for you feedback, the new holes will make such a little amount of impact we're never too concerned, they're also under the gunwales so it's a pretty strong under there
@hsktang3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the great DIY video. When you drill the rivet holes on the new gunwale, do you line it up with the existing holes on the canoe? Or, it should be avoid using the existing holes?
@bs_life_experience2 жыл бұрын
We tend to just drill new holes as it's much easier than trying to locate the old ones, often the old holes aren't useable anyway.
