My blower will intermittently start and then die. Sometimes it would not start at all. I had replaced the carburetor. When I check for spark it seems faint. Hard to see without a test adapter inserted between the spark plug and coil. I changed the gas and disconnected the kill switch wire without success. Is there any way to test the coil or just replace it and see if it fixes the problem. When you replaced the one in the video what were your symptoms? Any help would be appreciated. I inserted a business card to set the gap when I removed and reinstalled the existing coil.
@smallengineguys3 күн бұрын
if the spark is yellow its probably a bad coil
@wrenfan2 күн бұрын
@@smallengineguys I measured the coil with an ohmmeter. The primary was 304 ohms and the secondary was over 20M ohms. It seems like it is a bad coil. I will update after installing new coil. Thanks for the prompt reply.

Awesome. I was literally able to follow this step by step. The hardest part was fishing the fuel line the filter attaches to out of the reservoir - cut a long point on that guy... Oh, I also broke the replacement carburetor trying to jimmy with the throttle cable but was successful in reusing my original carb.

You know, most folks think these Poulans are crap. I disagree. My everyday saws are Stihl, but I have this saw, the P3314, in the back of my truck just for emergencies. It's fairly well made, fairly simple, easy to fix and made in America (Georgia, Arkansas and South Carolina). It's a good reliable saw, and no-one wants to steal it!
