The scenes where she tells him that she was ok because he was ok and the when she was impressed over his face being clean shaven were scenes I noticed during the original run. I think his feelings started developing once he saw the bond between her and Carl. The flirtation moments and he was constantly checking her out. The telltale signs were always there.

I think it’s because Michonne didn’t criticise him like Lori did, I remember in the opening scene of S1:E1 he was telling Shane Lori kept telling him to speak. And when he does she seems tired of what comes out, then the flowers it was his colleagues who pitched in to buy them and not Lori (his wife). I think there was a lot of obligation in their marriage.

Say you “didn’t see it coming” all you want. Say you didn’t see the subtle dance around each other starting after CLEAR. Say you didn’t know what you were looking at seeing the way they spoke *whole paragraphs* with a nod or a glance. And a simple but heartfelt “You okay?” Say you looked away when you felt uncomfortable seeing your White Hero smile at a beautiful Black woman like he was genuinely glad to see her return. Say you missed all of that stuff leading up to The Couch at the End of The Day. Whatever. But if you’re saying that anything after we see them sleeping together The Next Morning is “forced” ? That you, feeling like you’re being forced to acknowledge what is clear as day in front of your eyes, think that them being in love “isn’t happening”? Just be honest with yourself and everyone you’re talking nonsense to and say you’re being forced to *see* that Rick Grimes absolutely loves Michonne Hawthorne, and with Carl and Judith, they’re a Family.
