I remember going there in the 1970's for a day trip my sister got kicked by one with a foal she went behind it wallop on the ground screaming just buised I told her to stay away from back end of the horse 🐎 I couldn't wait to say I told you so she fell on a heap on the grass 😂

Who’s the miserable daft old sod with a 2.5 Mazda engine getting pulled up on Barum Engines KZbin channel for mucking up a engine in a trial car and being unhappy it was filmed showing the bodges it’s had after being built ??? 😂

Finally, after years of watching these, I see a Morris Minor and an Anglia 105E, the latter I've always thought might do pretty well, as they're light, short wheelbase, and easily souped up. The old Ford Pop always makes me smile, and I fondly remember the red one of Harvey Waters. Thanks for a great video, and cheers from Alaska

@raywest38342 жыл бұрын
Only 2 wheel drive is permitted, and no locked differential either, although I think you can fit 'fiddle brakes' (essentially 2 hand brakes that allow you to lock the spinning wheel).

Mud and Snow tyres are not allowed in this sport.
@andrebartels16902 жыл бұрын
@@raywest3834 that's strange. I don't see how this sport benefits from this rule. But I guess those who made the rules have thoughts about this topic that I just don't have, because they have the experience and I'm just a spectator 🤷♂️
@raywest38342 жыл бұрын
@@andrebartels1690 Just as four-wheel-drives could climb steeper hills, locked diffs and M+S could certainly climb better, but this sport doesn't make things too easy for the competitors. I expect that part of it might be that the sport predates M + S tyres (I think Firestone Town and Country tyres were introduced in the 50's). Part of it might be that the trails, many of which are on private land, might not welcome grippier treads which would certainly do more damage. But in the end, as long as everyone can only use the same tyres, (at very low pressures) the competition is fair, and the amount of traction they DO find, quite amazing!
@andrebartels16902 жыл бұрын

Not wanting to be technical, but front engine/prop shaft and rear wheel drive doesn't seem to compete with rear engine/rear wheel drive. All of the Beetles had no trouble in general, but front engine/front wheel drive did good too!

Fantastic camera work. You put the viewer trackside. As close as being there. The music was perfect as it seamlessly tied all the images together, and you can still hear all the engines roaring, tyres howling and suspension smacking the ground. Very very professional video. Cheers from Australia to you, the drivers and marshalls.

@@g.dfirestarta6474 Problem with owning a Bug is that it becomes part of the family too! It has (almost) got a soul. I bought a '71 from a scrapyard, and destined to be crushed the next day. That was 2004. I had no affinity to the car at all, but I was desperate for the "crushing event" - not to happen!! I enjoyed working on the Bug for 18 months. Since owning the Bug, I've kept records of costs. Total spent (to date) is over AUD 50K. Car has now been converted to 100% electric, with Tesla Battery Pack and Hyper 9 electric motor. I thought long and hard about the decision to convert, but my reasoning came down to just one simple answer: this is a car that deserves to head towards the next century - at a pace where no-one can ever say my Bug is slow! I love my Bug. It's Alpine white and in factory (unmolested) condition these days, and icons will always remain icons. NONE of these Bugs should be heading for the Scrapyard, but regretfully, the Scrapyard Owners don't always view things from the same angle. Your one-line comment was excellent, and prompted me to write back. Greetings from Sydney Australia.

@@peterduxbury927 never owned one personally, had weekend visitations with one that my buddy and I used for “Farm Use” at his place. I’m almost embarrassed to say how bad of a thrashing we gave it. But if there’s a silver lining to be had here, it never did die, just broke so many parts it wouldn’t move😅. But with a little tooling, we saved the engine and left the rest to be picked apart by friends of a similar taste. Only things that went to the great scrapper in the sky was the busted up body and suspension. I have so many questions though. Is there anywhere I can see your Bug? My interest is more than piqued lol.
