Is it difficult to take care of a puppy? What is the worst thing that has to be overcome. I really want a dog, a sheltie, seriously since kindergarten...and I don't know what else to tell my parents 😢❤❤

I love Shelties, I've always wanted one...ever since I was little, really long, but I still don't have one. My parents simply won't allow it... and I'm already, yes, big enough❤❤❤

Shelties are just cute, and they are so smart and lovable as adults too. Such lovely dogs. Seeing this cutie grow up makes me smile.

Rescued a sheltie mix, she learned all her tricks in one month. Each trick took like 5 minutes. Smartest dog ever.

I have had many Sheltie in my life. We fostered for Sheltie rescue for 10 years. These guys are flipping brilliant! We placed 252_dogs in 10_years.

Looks like my Milton who passed away of a disease. Got one other Sheltie and she's battling a cancerous tumor. I'm not ready for her to go

I would recommend Honest Paws for shampoo. Not sure for conditioner. You could just get them groomed and they'll choose the best thing for them! :)

My 11 lb. Sheltie Wylie (avi pic) went OTRB two months ago at 16. He was the most gentle, sweet pup I’ve ever known. I miss him lots. Your Simba is gorgeous and amazing!

I'm 21 and I'm still not independant but I swore to myself since I was a kid that I would get a sheltie when I grow up because I used to play Nintendogs and so I became interested to know this breed in real life and I hope I'll be able to keep my promise ;)

We just lost our 16 year old Sheltie, Isis last Thursday. I'm still in tears. We are working to find another to go with our 3-year old boy sheltie Sully. Shelties don't really do well alone, we have found, they need someone else to play with when mom/dad are busy. We'll be getting a puppy this summer and I'm planning on teaching that one a bit better than we did Spaz boy. My girl Shelties (Isis and Rhi) were both very well trained and behaved and served as service dogs to me. I'm going to be training the new one to help me.

The best thing about Shelties is, they look cute in every age. As adults they are even cuter. When they look at you with their brown eyes..awwww. Just so irrisitible.

Gosh I love Shelties so much! We have one 11 year old Blue Merle Sheltie who is still as sharp as a tack and a new Sable mahogany colored 9 week old Sheltie. They are. Both boys and have their own unique personalities. One question I have is, what is a good way to reduce play biting? Our little 9 week old likes to play bite your feet, hands, arms, while you are still or walking. I think most of it is just being a puppy and wanting to put things in his mouth, but he has really sharp puppy teeth right now that can hurt or leave a mark sometimes. I’ve heard someone say to try and make a loud dog yelp noise when he bites to let him know its too hard. This seems to temporarily work, but I’m looking for something that will help him adopt some better habits over time. Thank you for your time! 😊

Hi Hadley ! Thanks for sharing your story ! We loved to learn that they can remain this clever as they age ❤ You’re absolutely right, all puppies goes through this play bitting phase at around 8-14 weeks. Its really challenging because they are so cute, but it’s hard to snuggle with all the biting. The right thing to do is exactly what you’re doing, bitting inhibition. If they bite, you yelp and pause the fun for a bit. Soon enough they’ll learn that humans are very sensitive and will develop a soft mouth. Good luck with your new boy .. keep us posted;)
