@ Fair! I do kind of understand why people (not you) are apprehensive about the execution for this production, but I was mindblown all show long with that one particular! I do wish I could say as such for BLVD; Any possibilities of a review for that transfer?

It’s disappointing when people think the worst of things when it’s not reality. People will literally not suffer under the new administration. Stop spreading false information.

@ under his first run he harmed nobody and made nobody suffer. Tons of ethnic groups and LGBTQ people across the country voted him in. He doesn’t hate anyone or anything. I’m not trying to pick a fight because I like your channel but it’s disappointing where news isn’t reality and people think the world isn’t coming to an end It’s not and every single person will be fine. They said all this before it’s first run and it was good

I thought the pacing was excellent. I thought the extra run time compared to the first act of the musical would mean they had added lots of extra stuff but it just meant that they gave certain moments time to breathe that don't need as much time on stage to make the same emotional arc, like the ozdust sequence.

My thing with the whole "should Jeff Goldblum be here when he's really just being himself" is that when I see it on stage I do think of Jeff Goldblum in the acting, but his singing voice is too recognisable. Like, you're not really meant to realise that he's the mystery man from the beginning but because he's Jeff Goldblum the second the wizard appears you're like "oh hey that's the guy!"

So, I'm watching older videos as I'm still fairly new to this channel, I hope the September show went well and I love the idea of being able to get a streaming ticket as getting to London would be a very big ask for me at the moment, though I miss it horribly and would love to go back. I had to smile when you said about making a custom plush because when you started to talk about merch, that's exactly what I thought. I don't buy tees and hats etc because, not being able to see, having merch of that kind isn't something I'm into. But I'd definitely be up for a plush. Hope you and Aaron are having a fab day.

When the OG’s hit the screen…….ahhhhhhhhh my heart!🩷💚 The entire movie exceeded my expectations. I went with family and was pleasantly surprised when my brother, who never saw the broadway show, couldn’t stop talking about it. That to me proved how well done the movie is. Can’t wait to go again!!!🩷💚🩷💚

For The Outsiders, lots of young women love to see/read/write close male relationships, platonic and romantic portrayed. Shipping men/men relationships too and I think stories like the Outsiders play into those close brother and male friendship relationships that allow vulnerability to exist.

My least favourite part of the movie was most of the One Short Day / Wizomania sequence. There was a lot going on and the dancing was too weird with people dancing around while groin thrusting. I didn't enjoy a lot of the choreography in this part. The Kristin and Idina cameos could have been much better. They looked like the ugly step sisters from Cinderella and the new song was very forgettable. Another thing I didn't enjoy was the move to the library for Dancing Through Life, with Fiyero stepping on books. He went from being cocky to being disrespectful.

managed to get balcony tickets through priority booking on their instagram - having a very vague awareness of the novel means im sort of treating it like its own work of fiction, definitely excited for possible cast transfer!

I had never considered Sentimental Man to be a manipulative moment until seeing it in the film. It really highlights from the first moment that you meet him that he is a charleton. He knew Elphaba was green. Who says Morrible didn't also tell him what she knew about Elphaba's strained relationship with her father.

I think the mic placement on Nichelle Lewis (at the top of her head which is right at the level of Joshua Henry’s lips) was such a hindrance during ‘Wheels of a Dream’. A lot of their staging was Joshua Henry directly over Nichelle Lewis with her mic at the top of her head and very often during this song Joshua Henry was basically singing right into her mic because of their staging and height differences. There is no reason that her voice should disappear at any point considering they’re mic’ed. At no point was she inaudible during her big act 1 solo which is much more dynamically nuanced and variable.

Guys, it’s perfect. Full stop. As a lifelong fan of Wicked, I was so excited for the movie, but I had such high expectations, and the movie blew those out of the water and then some. It’s visually and audibly stunning the entire way through. I’ll be the first to admit I was skeptical over some of the casting choices when they were first announced, but now having seen it I can’t imagine anyone else doing these roles justice. And you can tell how much care everyone involved put into this movie and getting it right. I’m seeing it again tomorrow, and I don’t know how I’m going to stand waiting a full year for part 2. Run don’t walk to see it; I promise you won’t regret it.

The reality is she liked more than just Russell brands hat. Make Jesús great again is what white Christian nationalist wear instead of the Trump hat Brand is a MAGA. Not only that she liked lots of shows that were conservative including Tucker Carlson. Which had nothing to do with her religion beliefs. She didn’t clarify in her statement

I saw it today! Love it so much, nothing dragged for me, I want to see it again immediately because I know I missed some details: there was So Much. 38:35 Didn't even realize Fiyero was using American vowels while singing-I was too distracted by his dancing 😅 Maybe they have him doing that so he'll blend with Elphaba in "As Long As You're Mine"? 41:13 I didn't realize this, but yes, absolutely. I saw Glinda getting caught up in Madame Morrible's cyclone now that her and Elphaba's paths have diverged-and I knew Glinda was Madame Morrible's backup figure, but I hadn't fully realized how Madame Morrible needs Glinda's positive charisma more in the film.

I was introduced to Wicked through Ariana Grande’s feature on MIKA’s “Popular Song” so knowing her love for the show and Glinda, I BAWLED LIKE A BABY after the ending lyric in Popular was sung (as well as the end of the Ozdust Ballroom scene). It’s so beautiful to see someone who wanted this role SO BAD and worked hard on her acting & opera vocals in order to get it, I’m so happy to see Ariana live her dream! 👏🏾💕 Also I was tearing up at Cynthia’s vocals in Defying Gravity & The Wizard and I…like WOW. I knew this movie would make me cry but not this much! 😂

Wicked was the first show I saw on Broadway when I was 16. I loved the movie so much. The only two parts that I wasn't as big a fan of were the Wizard and Madame Morrible--but when I saw the musical those characters were played by Ben Vereen and Rue McClanahan respectively--so I'm probably biased there.

Idk if I was just too excited to care or just prepared myself well but I didn’t feel like it was too long at all! Like I went in thinking “this is gonna drag” but afterwards it didn’t feel long to me 🤷🏾♀️

12:44 yes! I love that because it really highlights how much Oz as a nation idolizes and reveres magic users! Like, just _having_ a magic user on Shiz University's staff is worth her pay.

I've loved this musical since I was sixteen, I've seen it twice and have adored the music, the themes, and the story for half my life at this point. This movie is something I've only ever DREAMED of happening. I'm actually grateful it took so long, because the stars had to seriously align in order to create the masterpiece we ended up receiving. Every moment of this film was a delight to experience. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were phenomenal casting choices, but also one can't forget about Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, and Jeff Goldlbum. Furthermore, the sets are gorgeous, you really feel like you are in Oz, not just as an observer, but a fellow citizen walking the streets of Emerald City or joining our favorite two witches in class. The colors were gorgeous, so many pinks, greens, yellows, they all just pop into your eyes but it's not overwhelming. I loved the vocal changes made as well, you mentioned Popular, but there were some moments I really appreciated in No One Mourns The Wicked and The Wizard And I that really breathed new life in the songs. So much to love about this film, I'd be here all night if I tried to describe everything!

I’m very pleasantly surprised by how well casted this movie is and especially how much chemistry Ariana and Cynthia have together. I know I had my doubts but now they feel so silly in retrospect. It’s also so clear how much love and respect the Wicked team have for its source material, which is something that I feel like a lot of people recent movie musicals lack (*coughcough Tom Hooper coughcough*) Also, as a gelphie truther, I feel very well fed by this movie and I appreciate bisexual Fiyero. I think that the Fiyero and Elphie relationships still suffers from being underdeveloped (especially compared to Elphaba and Glinda) but that’s def. something they can work on in the sequel. I’m still annoyed that they broke it into two movies but I’ll be seated come next Nov. believe me!

I love your love of this show. I want very much to see it now. The fireflies, live & unpredictable, are the essence of beauty, & the recognition of beauty is usually believed to be solely within the purview of humans. Doubtful. But for 2 robots to find their hearts melting at the sight tells what is happening or has happened to their presumed natures. Just hearing you talk about it is lovely & moving.

Warning right now this is going to be a long comment. Just for the record I'm firmly in Social Security age in the US. I remember seeing the Wizard of Oz when it was an annual event, and may have even seen it before our TV had color. I tried to read the book when it first came out but did not care for it. I've listened to the soundtrack, know the book of the show, seen the performance clips. But for various reasons the stage production always escaped me. Until a couple of days ago when I finally saw a tour production. Today, I saw the movie. I have not yet watched your spoilery review, so this is completely my take. I enjoyed them both immensely. I loved all the little nods to the Wizard of Oz and the cameos. Even Stephen Schwartz! I enjoyed that the movie was able to expand the story from the production on stage and give it some breathing room. Something I've always been bothered by - while recognizing that it is necessary - is how much source material gets stripped out of a show. It works with some shows, not so much with others, and I really felt it with Wicked on stage. As for the expansion in the movie, I think the only place that it does a disservice, is the director's choice at the end with expanding Defying Gravity, which is unfortunate. I think it takes some of the power out of it. People who are criticizing a certain actress for her performance need to remember that this is a screen performance, and not a stage performance, and you do not have to sing to the second tier. It's actually unfortunate that all we have for the past 20 years of this show, and it's a wonderful show, has been a single production. The job of all of those productions is to be as close to the original one as possible and there's nothing wrong with that. However, I think it leads many people down the path of 'there is only one way to do this', and that is unfortunate. So I think if you haven't seen the stage production a zillion times, or listened to the soundtrack on repeat for the last 20 years you will give this production more space. Can't wait to see Part 2. Oh, and can I just say - flying monkeys!! Terrifying children since 1939.
