While SF4 ost never stood out to me. The play between these themes and their vs Ryu themes really make me look back and love this OST. Really interesting motif usage.

Gouken’s theme is more in the forefront while Akuma’s is more in the background, like a dangerous assassin. Feels that way to me anyhow.

Im guessing based on the lore their separate themes when combined are meant to be one song and reflect the duality of man in a way in terms of their paths gouken choosing the path of light while akuma the path of darkness almost like ying and yang they balance one another

I love how Akuma & Gouken’s themes are not only inversions of each other, but perfectly compliment each other… to create a complete tune, when paired together… a perfect representation of Yin & Yang. When I hear them mixed, I don’t see two brothers fighting each other, but standing back to back, fighting together, in harmony, as one!

Yin and Yang is from Taoism which represents opposing and complimenting forces but that they can also become each other so not exactly perfect.

No. They were made to go together like this, but they were not made as a single song and then split. Akuma's theme existed way before Gouken's did.
