A very nice video. Good job. The only thing I would recommend would to leave out the radio music and let sounds of the locomotives sing their song in future videos you make. This brought back memories for me. I was the engineer on the original Hartwell from the late 80's to 1991. We had about 6 active customers on that line and there was the steam excursions that ran for a brief time, so it was quite an awesome time in my early railroad career. For diesels, we had two GE 44 tonners and one SW-1 that did a good job considering all the steep grades. On, and the old interchange you showed pulling the storage flats was the wye used to turn the train and back then that whole area was very clear of any trees as it was a farmer's field. Too bad you couldn't have experienced all that. It was a great time.

Two hours ago a mention of Toccoa, Georgia in an old NS safety video sent me to Google earth to look for a little used line. Traced what I now know is the Hartwell Railroad, south to Bowersville and beyond along with east to Hartwell. Down the rabbit hole, locomotive rosters, town histories, the whole nine yards. Think I’ll look on the KZbin and see what I can find. And there’s a brand new video with just the kind of stuff I’m looking for. Talk about timing! Good stuff, thanks for posting this. Got me wanting to drive down there from eastern NC to see it for myself. Looks like a fascinating short line to rail fan, thanks again for sharing your footage. I gotta wonder about that USMC decal on the 3000, must be a Jarhead employee.
