Well, no real ship would have been planked like that. All the planks (except for stealers) have to end at the rabbet of the stem, not like you put them. It would have produced a very weak hull. There are many books explaining how you do it correctly, maybe you get yourself. It will be eye opening.
@homeharbour623815 күн бұрын
Thank you very much for explaining. And yes, it's not correct planking, it's much more simplified as I follow the instructions. Not every beginner can do the right planking. All the best, Roma
@Blaze_196110 күн бұрын
Adding rabbits to the keel and stem are advanced building techniques. Yes, you are correct though. This works fine for beginners as long as they lay the second planking correctly

quite the contrry! Finally someone that has the balls to do some weathering on a wooden ship model. Very few and far between these modelers with real taste. Most of the other models look too clean, not realistic at all. But after all, a question of personal preferences! I followed your instructions and it worked very well up until I sanded the deck. The sanding spread the black felt pen markings all over the deck so now it is quite grey. What do you think I did wrong? Any suggestions on how to remove the grey color?

@@1952Tango Hello. Sorry to hear that. I don't think that it is a big problem as well as I don't think you did something wrong. Maybe something happened with the marker ... I think after adding black acrylic paint and sanding it down and staining the deck it will look great

I have been working on my kit and things are going pretty well, so I would like to try doing the conversion to the pirate ship. Right now, I am at a point, having completed the deck and skeleton, where I need to start to make the changes but I cannot find the list of additional parts and any paints not included in the paint set, from Occre. Would you be able to direct me to the link or let me know what additional parts and paints I need to buy? It takes about a week to get them shipped to Florida. (The "show transcript" in youtube is not working for me)Thank you!

While I understand that the HMS Enterprise was captured and became the first USS Enterprise, I really, really wish that there was a good kit of the Henry Spencer built schooner USS Enterprise from 1799. It was the first USS Enterprise to be built AS the USS Enterprise. In its 24 year career, the schooner USS Enterprise fought in a conflict with the French, then fought in the Barbary wars, and after a refit, upgrading its sails to a brig, it went to an amazing career battling pirates in the Caribbean. The 1799 USS Enterprise is the true stuff of legends and is remembered in poem and song. It's the Enterprise that did all the things, and made Lieutenant Andrew Sterett the hero of history.

I ordered the kit and paint set through your link, and it arrived in Florida in a little over a week. The kit has really nice laser cutting and good wood. The instructions are excellent. I am finishing the "skeleton assembly" and looking ahead, plan to do the planking as you have done as it looks more realistic. Two questions. First, what color marker do you use for the edges of the planks to simulate caulking? Second, is it ok to use the black in the paint set for the weathering of the deck? Thank you.
@homeharbour62384 ай бұрын
@@drav8r5651 yes, the black is good and also instead of marker use black acrylic paint. Check my latest videos of San Felipe deck planking. It's more realistic and better to send down
