Combo note: The frame trap is after the crouching mp drive rush. If an opponent pushes a button they get hit with the target combo (mp, hk).

This guide series is exactly what I need, since i've been hardstuck in Diamond 3 with Rashid for weeks. I was wondering why do you link st.MP into st.HK instead using the buffer that the target combo it already gives. Does the link give a different juggle state that im missing?

I think putting the delay between mp and hk is only useful in the corner after a drive impact wall splat. It gets more damage than the target combo and sets up all types of further damage for your Di combos. See my tutorial list of combo guides for examples. Otherwise I always use the target combo bc it launches them up and into more damage.

@anthonydimaggio5465
@anthonydimaggio5465 2 ай бұрын
Numerous mid screen meaties still catch w back roll. Not to mention many players don’t back roll consistently. This critique makes as much sense as saying meaties are pointless bc people can wake up ex or wake up super out of them too. People can do a lot of stuff, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t run your offense. Plus most of these meaties are corner meaties. Which, no, you don’t back roll out of those. But you’d have to watch the video to know that. 🤦‍♀️
@jackbot1992
@jackbot1992 2 ай бұрын
@@anthonydimaggio5465 First of all, sorry I was so harsh with my comment, sometimes I forget there's a human being behind the screen. Your comparison with wake up ex DP doesn't really make sense, because your opponent has a reason NOT to ex DP. But with backroll, your opponent doesn't have any reason NOT to backroll (except for very specific instances). When you say that many players don't backroll consistently, what do you mean? They just... forget to do it? I'm pretty bad at the game, but even at my rank people do backroll 100% of the time, because that's just a no-brainer. So my frustration was, how am I supposed to know which of these setups are backroll-safe? Do I need to try them all just to find out? Many of your setups are extremely dangerous, someone could be induced to try them on a real match, just to inevitably whiff their throw and get shimmied into oblivion...
@anthonydimaggio5465
@anthonydimaggio5465 2 ай бұрын
No problem! I think bc the mental stack is so high in this game that many just don’t prioritize back rise. and for the ones that do, if you see them back rise you can adjust to using one of the meaties that compensates for it. Like one that uses dash/double dash or dr rush.
@anthonydimaggio5465
@anthonydimaggio5465 2 ай бұрын
You’re right too that some of these are safer than others. And some are much better than others. I may make a video of “best rashid meaties” and ones that compensate for back roll next. To add more direction to the basic info here. Thanks for motivating me to do that!

Another spacing trap I managed to find was StLP, CrLK, StLP into (slight delay) StHP on block, it offers the same type of combo as the StLP x2 spacing trap shown in this video at 1:03 but the chain puts you out of range of both the StLP and the CrMK of all CrMK Drive Rush spam characters in the game, making it a good trap to catch CrMK spammers aswell and since most block strings in this game don't leave you out of CrMK range, it works in all meaty situations It also lets you start the arabian cyclone mix after conditioning the opponent to be afraid of mashing like the spacing trap you've shown too so I've been using it a lot in Master rank as well for about a year now

You can get more damage (just a touch) and a much easier combo (while still keeping the spirit of this combo) by instead of going for the one frame link doing a heavy skyhigh into j.MP and then super. If you really want to keep the 1 frame link, doing a dash right before ex mixer *should* allow for a 2 frame window to hit the link as long as your other timings are tight. Stepping forward, if you don't do the target combo at all and instead do j.2HP > j.HP > 5HP xx OD Cyclone > OD Mixer > H Skyhigh > j.MP > SA1 you jump up to over 42%. Instead of doing j.2HP > j.HP you can do j.2HP to j.HK for more consistency. If you hit the 2HP low then the second hit of j.HP doesn't come out, losing damage, while j.HK is only one hit and does the same damage. The final combo I got was: j.2HP > j.HK > 5HP xx OD Cyclone > (Slight delay here, adds 45 dmg) > OD Mixer > H Skyhigh > j.MP > SA1 4250 damage, no 1 frame link required, same drive consumption.

Good question. One of the best is double dash into throw after medium eagle spike. Bc they can’t back roll out of it. Run into slide punch after ex mixer is great too. Bc it links to your supers.

@anthonydimaggio5465
@anthonydimaggio5465 4 ай бұрын
Side switch tech: Light cyclone (quarter circle back and light punch) sets you up to move forward. Then press back and any kick to shoot forward. You want to connect w medium kick in the air after that for the overhead hit. Then go into target combo (medium punch, heavy kick). That launches them into the air. Then do light cyclone again (quarter circle back and light punch) to switch sides. Immediately hit down and medium kick, which hits meaty after side switch. From there you can do a drive rush combo or go into light mixer like I do in this video (quarter circle forward and light punch) and try for a throw if the mixer hits. Have fun!
